Former gugudan Mimi Signs with a New Agency as an Actress + to Star in an Independent Film
On Jan. 19, Badahae Entertainment announced that Jung Mimi, a former gugudan member, has signed an exclusive contract with them. They added that they will actively support her activities as she makes a new start as an actress.
Former gugudan Mimi's new agency also announced that she has been selected to play the main character of an independent film, titled "Men Want the First, Women Want the Last." It is a story of two people who met for the first time in college and started dating.

The production of the independent film will be led by the company of CEO On Jung Jun, who was the general producer of the movie "Baseball Girl." Additionally, the film will be directed by Lee Hyun Joo, who was well-received for his impressive directing of web dramas and short films like the independent feature movie "Premature Baby."
The independent film starring former gugudan Mimi will depict a six-year love story that is filled with the excitement of first meeting, dating, quarrels, and parting just before marriage.

While this is not the first time that Mimi will act, "Men Want the First, Women Want the Last" will be her first independent film. According to reports, the filming of the movie has recently finished and the production team is aiming to release it in the first half of the year.
Before joining her new agency, Jung Mimi was previously under Jellyfish Entertainment. She left the latter company in March of last year following her contract expiration, three months after gugudan's disbandment.

Jung Mimi used to be a trainee at FNC Entertainment (home to AOA, CNBLUE, SF9 and more) before she transferred to Jellyfish Entertainment.
Mimi was then revealed as a member of Jellyfish Entertainment's new girl group, gugudan, in June 2016. The band officially debuted on June 28 with their first mini-album "Act. 1 The Little Mermaid." Mimi serves as the visual and one of the vocalists of the group.
Even before she debuted as a singer, former gugudan Mimi has been acting. She previously made a cameo appearance in Korean dramas such as "One Sunny Day" (2014) and "Producers" (2015).

Jung Mimi also appeared in "Sweet Stranger and Moe" (2016) and 20th Century Boy and Girl" (2017). She went on to make her acting debut in 2018 through the web drama "I Picked Up a Celebrity on the Street."
Moreover, Mimi played a supporting role in "Extraordinary You" (2019) and took the role of the main character in "Re-Feel: If Only" (2021).
Ahead of her departure from Jellyfish Entertainment in March 2021, Mimi participated in gugudan's comeback with their third EP "Act. 5 New Action." This album marks their last music release as a group.
