The 2021 MelOn's year-end chart has been released and IU managed to land three songs within the Top 10, which makes her the first artist since BIGBANG to do so.

Keep on reading to find out which K-pop songs made the Top 10.

2021 MelOn Year-End Chart: IU Becomes First Artist Since BIGBANG To Have 3 Entries Within Top 10

On Jan. 25, MelOn revealed its year-end chart for 2021. The chart ranked a total of 100 songs that were the most popular last year. Among the K-pop songs that made the list are solo tracks by IU.

"Celebrity" is IU's highest entry as well as the highest entry overall as it took first place on the chart.

"Celebrity" is the idol's pre-release song ahead of her fifth studio album "LILAC," which was released on Jan. 27, 2021. The female soloist wrote the lyrics for the song and also participated in its composition along with other composers like Ryan S. Jhun, Celine Svanback, Chloe Latimer and more.

Apart from "Celebrity," IU's "LILAC" also entered the Top 10 of the 2021 MelOn year-end chart. The song claimed the No. 6 spot, becoming IU's second-highest entry and the second-highest entry of a K-pop soloist overall.

IU completed the Top 10 by landing her 2011 song "Hold My Hand" in tenth place. This track is IU's very first self-written and self-composed song and serves as "The Greatest Love" OST.

"Hold My Hand" is enjoying belated popularity, ten years after it was released. In 2021, the OST skyrocketed to the top of various Korean music charts after a video of IU singing it at her concert drew attention.

Since three of IU's songs made the Top 10 of the 2021 MelOn year-end chart, IU becomes the first artist in six years since BIGBANG (in 2015) to land three tracks inside the top 10.

Aside from that, IU is also the artist with the most entries on the year-end chart, landing a total of 11 songs within the Top 100. These tracks include "Blueming" at No. 19, "Eight" (feat. SUGA) at No. 20, "Coin" at No. 52 and "Ah puh" at No. 54 among others.

With this, IU has proven her position as the strongest K-pop soloist and artist overall in the Korean music industry.
