BLACKPINK Gets another Billion Views Music Video with 'Kill This Love'

On January 26, YG Entertainment announced that the "Kill This Love" music video exceeded 1.5 billion views on YouTube. It has been about two years and nine months since it was released on YouTube. BLINKs are showing love for the quartet by streaming the music video.

This is BLACKPINK's second music video that surpassed more than 1.5 billion views. Before this, their "DDU-DU DDU-DU," was a mega-hit, and it is currently approaching 1.8 billion views.

BLACKPINK and PSY are the only artists with MVs to hit more than 1.5 billion views in Korea. Among their MVs, BLACKPINK's "Kill This Love" surpassed PSY's "Gentleman" - which currently has 1.4 billion views - released in 2013 to become the 3rd most viewed K-pop music video.

"Kill This Love" is a song that has strong lead brass along with a magnificent drum sound. The music video captured the hearts of BLINKs all over the world with BLACKPINK's powerful yet charismatic dance lines and sophisticated visuals.

In particular, the action like shooting a long gun and the addictive point choreography were said to be impressive. The music video was also listed as the only K-pop in the "Top 10 Most Viewed Music Videos in the World in 2019."

The soundtrack also achieved remarkable results. In the first week of release, the song reached No. 41 and No. 24 on the Billboard's "Hot 100" and "Billboard 200" charts, respectively, replacing the top K-pop girl group charts at the time. In addition, it is the only K-pop girl group to surpass 500 million streaming times on Spotify, the world's largest music platform.

Meanwhile, there are a total of 32 videos of BLACKPINK with billions of views posted on YouTube. The total number of views of the content has been recorded to exceed 22.2 billion, and the number of subscribers on the quartet's YouTube channel has now surpassed 71.7 million. Because of this, BLACKPINK became the world's top artist in this field.

BLINKs Worldwide Are Looking for BLACKPINK's Comeback

Overseas fans of BLACKPINK were outraged. This is because of BLACKPINK's last year of contract with YG Entertainment and they haven't released a new song in two years.

BLINKs even started the hashtags," #WeWantBlackpinkMusic," "#STOPDELAYINGBLACKPINK," and "#BLACKPINKCOMEBACKNOW" on Twitter to voice out their concern to YG Entertainment, BLACKPINK's management agency. They also started the phrase, "We want BLACKPINK to come back."

Since their first full-length album, "THE ALBUM," which was released in October 2020, BLACKPINK members have been conducting their solo activities. The quartet's last concert together was "YG PALM STAGE - 2021 BLACKPINK: THE SHOW" held in January 2021.
