Jimmy Kimmel Criticized for His Derogatory Remarks Where He Linked BTS with COVID-19
On Jan. 29, Jimmy Kimmel became a trending topic on Twitter as many of BTS' fans are expressing their disappointment over the American TV host's comments in which he connected BTS to the highly infectious virus, COVID-19.
For starters, Jimmy Kimmel is currently the host of the American late-night talk show "Jimmy Kimmel Live!" which is currently the longest-lasting late-night talk show on the television network ABC.

During the latest broadcast of his late-night talk show, Jimmy Kimmel did a monologue wherein he compared the evolution of boy bands from the late 90s and in the early 2000s to COVID-19 mutations.
At the end of his statement, Jimmy said, "Until eventually, we get to one that's so contagious it destroys all life on earth." Many fans believe that the "one" in his comment may be BTS since currently, the South Korean boy group is one of the top boy bands in the world.
This is not the first time Jimmy Kimmel gave demeaning comments on BTS. Last week, he also said derogatory remarks about the septet.

During the broadcast of "Jimmy Kimmel Live!" on Jan. 21, Ashley Park appeared as the guest to promote her Netflix series "Emily in Paris." The actress also talked about BTS and revealed she's an ARMY.
Jimmy Kimmel then commented, "BTS Fever" and COVID-19 are "both dangerous" and that Ashley Park was lucky to come out of both of those alive.
As more and more of BTS' fans expressed their anger over the incident on Twitter, the hashtag "#JimmyKimmelRacist" is climbing up the worldwide trends. As of writing, the hashtag is at No. 8 with 48,000 tweets.
Back in November 2017, BTS appeared on "Jimmy Kimmel Live," and during their appearance, the septet held an "outdoor mini-concert" and took the time to take pictures with some fans and their moms.

BTS Gets Nominated at the 2022 NME Awards
In other news, the 2022 NME Awards has revealed the full list of nominees and the South Korean boy group BTS has multiple nods.
BTS is nominated in the Best Songs in the World with their English mega-hit "Butter." The septet is going against other well-known songs like Olivia Rodrigo's "Good 4 U," The Kid LAROI & Justin Bieber's "Stay," Charli XCX's "Good Ones," Lorde's "Solar Power," among others.

BTS is also competing to get the Best Collaboration at the 2022 NME Awards. Their collab song "My Universe" with Coldplay is going against Baby Keem x Kendrick Lamar's "Family Ties," Griff x Sigrid's "Head On Fire," and others.
This is the second time BTS was nominated at the NME Awards. The first time was in 2020, and at the time, the septet took home the Music Moment of the Year.
The 2022 NME Awards will take place on Mar. 2 (local time) at the O2 Academy Brixton in London.
