The Boyz's management agency, IST Entertainment, confirmed on January 30 that a subsequent RT-PCR test showed that Sangyeon and the other staff members are already negative for the virus.

Unfortunately, the same cannot be said about his groupmates, Eric, Younghoon, Hyunjae, and Haknyeon who all tested positive last month. They are still recovering from the virus while in quarantine.

COVID-19 April Fools Joke Goes Wrong

In 2020, some K-pop idols faced backlash after they seemingly made light of the seriousness of COVID-19. At the time, the pandemic just began, so no one knew how long the virus would affect the lives of everyone.

Then, in April, Hallyu icon Kim Jaejoong told his fans he tested positive for COVID-19, and that he is in the hospital seeking treatment.

The singer also said that he contracted the virus after taking the government's warnings and precautionary measures for granted. He later came clean and said that didn't test positive for COVID-19.

Fans were enraged and couldn't believe he would make light of a serious matter. Kim Jaejoong immediately apologized to everyone.

However, Vice Health Minister Kim Gang Lip still condemned the artist even after he apologized for his misconduct. The health minister said that April Fools originated from the West and shouldn't be practiced in South Korea.
