BTS Jimin Recovers From Surgery, 'SNS King' Now COVID-19-Free

On February 5, Big Hit Music, the management company of BTS, said that BTS member Jimin was discharged from the hospital and released from quarantine early this morning as the quarantine period for COVID-19 ended after surgery for acute appendicitis.

Jimin was diagnosed with COVID-19 and acute appendicitis on January 30 and was hospitalized after surgery on January 31. He is confirmed to be negative in the PCR test performed before discharge.

The agency said that Jimin showed no symptoms of COVID-19 during the hospitalization period. Although he showed mild sore throat symptoms when he was hospitalized, he made a full recovery at the hospital and was reported to be stable and he is recovering fast.

Big Hit Music said, "We deeply appreciate the fans who were concerned about the artist's health and the medical staff who are working hard to overcome COVID-19. We will continue to consider the artist's health and safety as our top priority and faithfully follow the quarantine guidelines."

Last January 30, Jimin felt a sudden stomachache with a mild sore throat. He immediately went to the emergency room of a nearby hospital and performed PCR tests and was confirmed positive for COVID-19.

That same day, he was diagnosed with acute appendicitis and underwent appendectomy (surgery for appendicitis) the next morning. His doctor said that the surgery was needed to be performed as soon as possible.

Last December, other BTS members, Suga, RM, and Jin was diagnosed with COVID-19 one after the other. Jimin was the fourth confirmed case in the group.

BTS Jimin Named as SNS King

BTS Jimin once again achieved Korea's first and only new record, proving his status as the "SNS King."

Jimin's "Bang Bang Con" (BTS concert enjoyed in a room) promotional video uploaded to BTS' official TikTok surpassed 120 million views on January 5.

This is the first record not only for BTS but also for an individual in Korea. As of January 8, it has surpassed 100 million and received 12.2 million likes, continuing to gain great popularity from platform users.

In addition, "Unstoppable Jimin's Dynamite Dance" has 94.7 million views and 13.9 million likes, and the "Life Goes On" challenge has 52.8 million views, It is showing a steady upward trend with 10.1 million 'likes'.

In particular, the exclusive choreography video of "Permission to Dance," one of the legendary contents that attracted 176,000 followers in just 15 hours of its release, is recording 56.7 million views and 9.6 million likes.

Then at the "2021 MAMA," BTS received the "TikTok Favorite Moment" award because of the trends they made on the platform.

Because of this, BTS Jimin's popularity is rising among his fellow BTS members. ARMYs are now hoping to see more content from the idol, especially since he is now recovered from COVID-19 and appendectomy.

Meanwhile, the Bangtan boys are currently on their second long vacation. When they come back, a face-to-face concert will be held in Seoul in March. They will start preparing for the concert soon.
