ITZY Ryujin's Iconic 'Shoulder Dance' Originally Belonged to Another Member
Back in 2020, ITZY released their hit track "Wannabe," that became not only a hit for the song itself, but also member Ryujin's iconic dance move, which became labelled as the "shoulder move."
In fact, the "shoulder move" became so popular and viral in 2020, that during the promotions for "Wannabe," it became known as Ryujin's best era and cemented her position as one of the top idols who is great at dancing.
While the "shoulder move" is known to be Ryujin's signature dance move, did you know that it was actually meant to be performed by another ITZY member?
It was revealed that fellow member Yeji was actually supposed to do the "shoulder move" during the beginning of the song, and sing the part "I do what I wanna."
However, during the recording for "Wannabe," one of the song's producers thought that Ryujin's voice was more suitable to sing the opening line. With that, Ryujin and Yeji's lines were swapped with each other.
Netizens who found out about the switch in lines thought it was a good decision on JYP Entertainment's part, as the label was also criticized for giving Yeji too many lines in "Wannabe" following its release.
