Mnet Confirms 'Queendom Season 2' Premiere

Mnet finally confirms the date of the much-awaited season of its entertainment survival program "Queendom." Selected K-pop girl groups will be competing with one other soon!

Mnet Reveals Premiere Date of 'Queendom' Season 2

On the 8th, CJ ENM's music channel Mnet announced, "'Queendom 2' will be broadcast every Thursday at 9:20 PM from March 31st for the next 10 weeks."

On February 8, Mnet confirmed the comeback of its entertainment music survival program "Queendom." The season two will premiere on March 31 at 9:20 PM (KST). It will be broadcast every Thursday for 10 consecutive weeks.

Moreover, Taeyeon of Girls' Generation is the confirmed emcee of the program. She is selected because she influences other k-pop girl groups.

The program will follow a format in which six popular girl groups compete by releasing singles at the same time on a single day. The first season, which was released in 2019, generated a lot of attention with the splendid performances of girl groups. The popularity of this program led to the launch of male idol versions of Mnet's "Road to Kingdom" and "Kingdom: Legendary War."

"Queendom" Season 2 plans to embrace global K-pop fans. It is one of the most striking features compared to last season.

Mnet stated that "We are targeting not only domestic but also global music charts, such as strengthening digital content that can attract overseas fans of the participating girl groups."

Moreover, the performance that the boy groups who previously appeared on Mnet's "Kingdom: Legendary War" showed on the TV attracted the interest of overseas K-pop fans through global platforms such as YouTube, and album sales also skyrocketed.

Participating teams will be announced sequentially at a later date. Last season, Oh My Girl, Lovelyz, (G)I-DLE, Mamamoo, AOA, and Park Bom appeared.

Last February 3, Mnet released the "Queendom" season two teaser which ignited the excitement of fans worldwide. Because of this, fans of different girl groups are speculating if their idols will be participating in the survival program.

The next day, February 4, Mnet made an official statement saying, "It is true that we are considering several girl groups, but nothing has been confirmed yet."

Earlier, there have been news saying that VIVIZ, ITZY, Brave Girls, and Kep1er were considered to participate in Mnet's "Queendom" Season 2.

Mnet Reveals More Programs for 2022

Aside from the season two of "Queendom," the next in line is the male version of "Street Woman Fighter," which is set to broadcast in the second half of 2022.

It will feature the most talented male dancers in Korea. The confirmed emcee of the survival show is Kwon Young-chan, the chief producer of "Street Woman Fighter."

Aside from that, Mnet stated that there are more unconventional dancers that would be taking the stage in the upcoming program.Then, Mnet's hip-hop survival show, "Show Me the Money," is also set to run its eleventh season this year. Its host will be Choi Hyo-jin. Last December 3, 2021, the program wrapped up its tenth season with Jo Gwang-il being the grand winner.
