'Girls Planet 999' Contestant Kawaguchi Yurina Announces Japanese Solo Debut in March

Recently on February 14 JST, it was reported that Kawaguchi Yurina, a former J-group contestant of Mnet's survival program "Girls Planet 999," will be making her solo debut in Japan next month, on March 21 JST.

In addition, Kawaguchi Yurina will be making her highly-anticipated solo debut under Universal Music in Japan.

Reports say that her debut single will be titled "Look At Me," which will contain lyrics that are written by Kawaguchi Yurina herself.

Along with the announcement of her pending solo debut, a jacket teaser image was also shared.

In the teaser image, the former Mnet contestant can be seen posing in a black and white ensemble against a turquoise background while looking to the side, giving off an elegant and sophisticated atmosphere.

Following the announcement of her upcoming solo debut, numerous fans couldn't help but express their excitement and anticipate what kind of song she will be releasing as a solo artist.

In fact, many are particularly happy with her debut as Kawaguchi Yurina was a fan-favorite during her time competing on "Girls Planet 999."

While the Japanese singer was competing on the program to make it within the show's debut lineup for their project girl group, she had been one of the dominating contestants on the show in terms of voting, peaking at No. 1 in terms of votes, and was usually within the Top 10 ranks from the beginning until almost the end of the show.

What is 'Girls Planet 999'?

In other news, "Girls Planet 999" is an Mnet survival program that aired from August to October 2021. The show featured a total of 99 contestants, with 33 being of Korean, Japanese, and Chinese descent each, and was divided into K-group, J-group, and C-group.

The contestants competed on the show to earn a place within the show's final Top 9 contestants and be part of the debut lineup for their project girl group, which was later named to Ke1per.

Prior to joining the show, Kawaguchi Yurina was part of the Japanese idol group X21 from 2016 until their disbandment in 2018.
