The visual idol joined JYP Entertainment during a secret audition in 2020. However, before that, Sullyoon had actually passed the auditions for YG Entertainment, SM Entertainment and Fantagio. Including JYP Entertainment, this means Sullyoon was accepted in not one, not two, but four top K-pop agenices!
This has caused many to wonder why Sullyoon chose JYP Entertainment. Others rationalized that YG Entertainment may have been a better fit for people who want to achieve global success like BLACKPINK.

However, people were able to determine why Sullyoon decided to become a trainee under JYP Entertainment. Fantagio is better at promoting their actors than their idols out of the four companies. On the other hand, SM Entertainment had just debuted aespa at the time. aespa is SM Entertainment's first girl group in six years, following Red Velvet's debut in 2014. With that, it is unsure when SM Entertainment will debut a new girl group, as they are still busy promoting aespa.
For YG Entertainment, people believe that the dark and strong concepts of YG Entertainment may not suit Sullyoon. While YG Entertainment is reportedly in the process of preparing for a new girl group debut, it is also unknown if the line-up is set or if it will push through anytime soon. Additionally, YG Entertainment has often come under fire for how they promote their girl groups.
