Most-Streamed Artists in Spotify South Korea (First Year) - Here Are the Only 3 K-pop Acts That Made It to Top 10
One year ago, Spotify officially made its debut in South Korea, and since then, more domestic music lovers especially non-K-pop fans have become interested in K-pop music. This resulted in K-pop singers being discovered through their distinct discographies.
But, among the many K-pop acts, only three of them gained the most streams in the past 12 months and were in a tight competition with foreign singers.

One of them is the seven-piece boy group BTS, who has made history on Spotify countless times with many of their songs including their English hits "Butter," "Dynamite" and "Permission to Dance."
On the top 10 list of most-streamed artists in Spotify South Korea, BTS impressively secured first place, which means they were the act with the highest streams on the platform among domestic and international artists.
The other K-pop artist that received so much love on Spotify is the renowned female soloist IU. In 2021, the "Nation's Sweetheart" released three tracks such as "Celebrity," "LILAC" and "Strawberry Moon" that were immediately added to her list of hit songs.

In addition to BTS and IU, the four-member K-pop girl group BLACKPINK was also one of the most-streamed artists in Spotify South Korea in the past year. The quartet landed at No. 8 on the top 10 list.
BLACKPINK is one of the only two idol groups within the top 10, along with BTS. Another notable aspect is that Jisoo, Lisa, Jennie and Rosé had no new music as a group since Spotify debuted in Korea, yet they amassed the eighth highest streams among artists in the world.
