On Feb. 18, the Korean media outlet Xports News released an exclusive report about SM Entertainment's five-member girl group, Red Velvet.

The local news outlet stated that Red Velvet's comeback has been confirmed to take place in March and the members' preparations are currently in full swing. The report also stated that the group will return with a new album.

Shortly afterward, SM Entertainment issued a statement to respond to the report. The agency confirmed the news of the quintet preparing a new album with the goal of releasing it next month. "We ask for your interest," the label added.

Red Velvet's new album will mark their first comeback seven months after their sixth mini-album "Queendom" came out in August of last year.

"Queendom" received a lot of love from fans around the world, sweeping No. 1 spots on domestic and international music charts. The album's title track of the same name even won a total of seven trophies on different music shows.

Further, "Queendom" earned Red Velvet an "Artist of the Year (Digital Music)" award for the month of August at the 2022 Gaon Chart Music Awards.

Throughout their career, the five-piece girl group has been showing off a wide musical spectrum, from songs with refreshing vibes like "Red Flavor," "Power Up" and "Umpah Umpah" to tracks with sexy concepts like "Bad Boy" and "Psycho."

On Feb. 17, the music video for "Bad Boy" crossed 350 million views on the platform. The song was released back in January 2018, meaning it took over four years to reach the mark.

Although "Bad Boy" is not the fastest to hit 350 million YouTube views among girl group songs, it becomes the first MV by a female artist under SM Entertainment in history to attain the feat.

On Jan. 18 of last year, "Bad Boy" became Red Velvet's first MV to accumulate 300 million views on YouTube. It also became the first MV of an SM female artist to score this milestone. The song also holds the record for the first Red Velvet MV to amass 200 million views.

In the first 24 hours of its release, Red Velvet's "Bad Boy" MV hit 7.5 million views, making it the group's third most-viewed music video within 24 hours at the time.

In South Korea, "Bad Boy" ranked first on real-time music charts like Genie, Bugs, Soribada, Olleh Music, and Naver Music. The song even took the top spot on China's Xiami Music overall chart.
