Sunmi Looks Back on Her 16-Year Journey as Singer

Sunmi recently stunned with her pictorial for Maria Claire Korea, where she hinted at her new music during her subsequent interview.

Sunmi Talks About 16-Year Career

During her interview with Marie Claire Korea, Sunmi talked about her experiences throughout the past 16 years that she has worked as a singer.

The 29-year-old said that the past 16 years still have had a huge influence on her music today.

Sunmi also remembers all the emotions she felt many years ago, and they also impact her music at present time.

Over the years, Sunmi's taste in music and the way she expresses herself have changed over time. But all these factors combined will certainly have an effect on the music that she would release in the near future.

When asked about her future music releases, Sunmi said that her fans should wait and see what she will come up with. After all, she will be trying out some of the things that she has never done before.

Sunmi admitted that there was a time in her life wherein she felt stuck. But now, she has become more determined than ever to break all these boundaries.

The singer happily declared that she no longer feels old-fashioned in the industry.

Of course, the singer did not also shy away from revealing who her biggest inspirations are. She said that she looks up to people that do their job well just like Olivia Rodrigo, Charlize Theron, Shin Min Ah, and Kim Hye Soo.

Sunmi Stuns in Pictorial for Marie Claire Korea

On Thursday, Feb. 23, Marie Claire Korea also shared the first look at Sunmi's photos when she posed for the magazine.

Another snap shows the stunning K-pop idol wearing an orange cropped sleeveless blouse and matching orange pencil skirt. Her hands are on her head and hair, and her eyes are closed while charming the camera.

Another photo shows Sunmi relaxing on a bench.

And a fourth photo shows the singer wearing a black dress.

All of Sunmi's photos, as well as her full interview, will be included in the magazine's March 2022 issue.

Sunmi's Solo Career

Sunmi used to be a member of the K-pop group Wonder Girls under JYP Entertainment. She debuted with the group before quitting three years later to finish her studies.

In 2013, she returned to the industry as a solo artist and released her debut EP "Full Moon." Two songs from "Full Moon" made it to the top of South Korea's Gaon Digital Chart: "24 Hours" and "Full Moon."

In 2015, Sunmi reunited with Wonder Girls to promote the group's music. But just two years later, Wonder Girls announced their disbandment.

In 2018, Sunmi released her second EP, "Warning," which features the songs "Siren," "Gashiona," and "Heroine."
