NME Awards 2022: TXT Makes History as First Korean Artist to Earn THIS Accolade
On March 2 local time, the BandLab NME Awards 2022 announced the winners in two particular categories prior to the main awards ceremony that will take place at the O2 Academy Brixton in London.
This annual British awards honors accomplishments in various fields, such as music, culture, and film.

In particular, TXT has been crowned Hero of the Year, which is a fan-voted category. This award acknowledges those who "made the world a much more excellent place over the last 12 months."
Looking at the previous NME Awards until this year's ceremony, TXT is the only Korean artist to take home this fan-voted award, which makes them the first one in history to receive this recognition.
Previous winners of Hero of the Year include Beyoncé, Ariana Grande, Lady Gaga, Barack Obama, Ozzy Osbourne, My Chemical Romance's Gerard Way, Liam Gallagher, and Arctic Monkey's Alex Turner.
Notably, more than 40 percent of the total votes for Hero of the Year accounted for TXT.

Meanwhile, Jacob Rees-Mogg (the British Minister of State for Brexit Opportunities and Government Efficiency) won in the other category at NME Awards 2022. He earned the Villain of the Year award.
In the past years, this recognition was given to Donald Trump, David Cameron, Justin Bieber, Piers Morgan, and George W. Bush.
Last year, TXT was the only Korean act to be listed on NME's year-end list of "The 50 Best Albums of 2021," with their second studio album "The Chaos Chapter: FREEZE" ranking No. 38 and receiving a five-star rating from the publication.
Moreover, NME chose the boy group's track "0X1=LOVESONG (I Know I Love You) (featuring Seori) as one of the best K-pop songs in 2021.

TXT Stays Strong on Billboard World Albums Chart With 'The Chaos Chapter: FREEZE'
In other news, TXT consistently soars high on Billboard's World Albums chart along with other K-pop albums.
For the week ending on March 5, TXT's "The Chaos Chapter: FREEZE" landed at No. 12, marking its 39th consecutive week on the tally. The album once again extended its record as the longest-running album released in 2021.
Overall, TXT has spent 84 cumulative weeks on Billboard's World Albums chart with all their albums that appeared on the tally. They now join BTS, BLACKPINK, EXO, and NCT 127 as the only Korean artists to record at least 80 weeks.

"The Chaos Chapter: FREEZE" has also spent its 39th consecutive week on Billboard's Top Current Album Sales chart. It climbed up two spots to No. 57 this week.
Their first Japanese EP "Chaotic Wonderland" is also doing well on Billboard Japan. For this week's Top Album Sales chart, the album placed No. 79, marking its 16th consecutive week on the list.
