Former (G)I-DLE Soojin Leaves Cube Following Exclusive Contract Termination

On March 5, Soojin, a former member of the girl group (G)I-DLE, ended up terminating her exclusive contract with Cube Entertainment due to her controversy over school violence.

In particular, it has been about a year since she stopped working in February last year due to the issue.

Regarding the reason for contract termination, the agency said:

"We and Seo Soojin tried to determine the authenticity (of accusation) through a police investigation for a long time. However, the police have ultimately concluded that the people who sent accusations were 'not guilty' of spreading false information.

Therefore, we respect the results of the police investigation, and we apologize for causing concern to many people."

To recall, Soojin in February 2021 was pointed as a school violence perpetrator. The author was identified as the victim's older sibling, and strongly attested to the star's bullying history.

In the process, there was also a story of witnessing the damage of actress Seo Shin Ae, middle school alumna of Soojin. Adding fuel to the fire, the actress indirectly acknowledged the accusations.

At that time, Soojin through Cube firmly denied the allegations, signaling legal response without leniency to the spread of false information.

However, suspicions did not subside and rather deepened. The writer demanded Soojin's recognition of the offense and a direct apology, but Soojin turned away from the public opinion by saying, "I don't remember."

In March, Soojin continued to deny claims amid suspension of her activities with (G)I-DLE, highlighting that she has never bothered anyone. The case was forwarded to Gangnam Police Station, but the investigation was sluggish due to lack of evidence - affecting the group's reputation.

As a result, Soojin announced withdrawal from (G)I-DLE in August 2021. After six months, Cube Entertainment finally released its position on the status of the police lawsuit.

The investigation conducted with Cube stated that the police denied that the accuser(s) were spreading false info, failing to prove that Soojin was "not guilty."

At the same time, this also does not imply that Soojin is "guilty" and that the accuser(s) were "innocent."

This was an unpleasant case without a clear answer despite being around a year.

Eventually, some Neverlands ((G)I-DLE fandom) expressed strong support to the idol through Twitter hashtags, #StayStrongSoojin, and #SoojinDeservesBetter.

On the other hand, (G)I-DLE, where Soojin belonged until last year, announced its full-fledged start of their re-organized five-member activities through their first full-length album "I NEVER DIE," set to kick off on March 14.
