A Look Back to 'I-LAND'

In 2020, Mnet broadcasted a survival program called "I-LAND." The show follows the journey of 23 BELIFT Lab trainees as they compete for a chance to debut as a part of the company's new boy group.

In the end, only seven out of the 23 made their debut. The show brought us hit boy group ENHYPEN. Though only seven made their debut through the show, many became attached to the other contestants who competed. One of the most-loved trainees on the show was Hanbin, a Vietnamese contestant.

Although he was unable to debut in the final lineup, Hanbin departed the show with a large fanbase and a certain degree of popularity.

After remaining with BELIFT Lab for nearly a year after the show, Hanbin left the company and signed with Yuehua Entertainment.

On March 2, Hanbin debuted with TEMPEST.

'I-LAND' Contestants ENHYPEN Sunghoon, TEMPEST Hanbin Reunite

On March 4, TEMPEST performed on "Music Bank." Many were anticipating the group to appear on the show, not only to see TEMPEST's performance but to witness the reunion of ENHYPEN's Sunghoon (one of the MCs of "Music Bank") and Hanbin. The two competed on "I-LAND" together and were at one point both in "ISLAND" together.

Before performing, TEMPEST had a backstage interview with the MCs. Sunghoon was seen asking Hanbin a question, staring at him and making eye contact as he did. In reply, Hanbin makes eye contact with him, smiles and answers the question.

The two seemed happy to see each other once again, with some even saying that they appeared proud to meet each other at one of the biggest music shows in South Korea.

In the end, the artists bowed to each other and the MCs. In the back, viewers spotted Sunghoon and Hanbin chatting privately. The two can even be seen reaching out to hold each other!

Although their interaction was brief, many are still happy to see the "I-LAND reunion." People expressed happiness seeing the two's growth from 2020 to now. Both trainees from the same survival show have achieved their dreams and debuted as K-pop idols!
