K-pop idols are best known not only for their talents but also for their work ethic. Before debuting, they first undergo a lengthy training process to prepare them for the job on hand.
There is no denying the fact that K-pop idols put so much of their time and energy into their craft. And some of them do so while dealing with health problems.
Here is a look at some K-pop idols that have been diagnosed with serious illnesses.
ITZY Yeji Suffers From Multiple Health Issues
ITZY Yeji shared her health struggles as a kid during a live broadcast on Jan. 24, 2020.
At the time, the K-pop idol revealed that at the age of 8, she had the flu but no medicine helped improve her condition. So, her mom rushed her to the hospital where she was diagnosed with multiple conditions.
According to ITZY Yeji, she was diagnosed with atopy or skin allergy, pneumonia, and osteomyelitis.
Even though the latter affected her bones, ITZY Yeji's family decided that she would not undergo surgery. Instead, she just took medications that eventually improved her condition.
EXID Solji Suffered From Hyperthyroidism
In 2016, EXID Solji's management announced that she was diagnosed with hyperthyroidism.
The K-pop idol was seeing symptoms in her body and face including the protrusion of her eyes that is why she decided to get checked.
Two years after her initial diagnosis, EXID Solji shared that she has fully recovered from her illness.
But before reaching this milestone, she first had to take a break from performing so that she could focus on her health.
HyunA Was Diagnosed With Vasovagal Syncope
K-pop idol HyunA has also had her bouts with health issues.
In 2019, she shared her vasovagal syncope diagnosis with her fans on Instagram.
The condition reportedly causes HyunA to experience fainting spells especially when she is stressed.
Other than this, HyunA also shared that she suffered from depression and panic disorder.
Following her admission, HyunA's agency announced that they would be postponing some of her schedules so that the idol could focus on her recovery.
SEVENTEEN Wonwoo Suffered From Acute Gastritis
SEVENTEEN Wonwoo skipped the broadcast promotions of the K-pop group in 2016 after he was diagnosed with acute gastritis.

Pledis Entertainment released a statement saying that SEVENTEEN Wonwoo had a checkup after losing his stamina. His doctor advised him to get some rest.
SHA SHA Wanlin Fainted During Comeback
In 2018, former SHA SHA member Wanlin made headlines after she fainted during her group's comeback.
Shortly after, she was diagnosed with hypokalemia, or the lowering of the potassium levels in the blood.
Following the diagnosis, SHA SHA Wanlin returned to China to seek treatment and recover from her illness.
