Red Velvet Members Test Positive for COVID-19 - What Will Happen to Their 2022 Special Live Concert?

On March 15, Red Velvet's agency SM Entertainment released an official statement to announce the current health status of the members.

The company revealed that Red Velvet's Joy, Irene, and Yeri have all received a positive result for COVID-19 after taking a pre-emptive self-test and this was confirmed via PCR test over the weekend.

They added that these three artists have completed their second round of vaccinations, and are currently receiving treatment at home without showing any symptoms of the virus. "Seulgi and Wendy underwent an additional test and received a negative result," they shared.

Previously, SM Entertainment announced that Red Velvet will hold a special live concert this March, titled "2022 The ReVe Festival: Prologue." The event is set to take place at the SK Olympic Handball Gymnasium for two consecutive days on March 19 and 20.

However, because Yeri, Joy, and Irene were diagnosed with COVID-19, Red Velvet's special live concert will be temporarily postponed. As such, the group's agency said that the tickets will be refunded and the new date will be determined after considering the singers' health and the COVID-19 situation in Korea.

In addition to the concert, Red Velvet's comeback is also scheduled for this March. Fortunately, the girls' new mini-album "The ReVe Festival 2022 - Feel My Rhythm" will be released as scheduled on March 21.

SM Entertainment went on to say that they will continue to strictly comply with the COVID-19 quarantine guidelines.

"We will do their best to pay attention to the recovery and health of its artists, as their health and safety is our number one priority. Thank you."

On March 12, the five-piece girl group shared a teaser schedule for the release of their full Japanese album, "Bloom," which will be their first since their debut. While the album is due out in April, a series of jacket photos, individual and group MV teasers, a highlight medley, and more will come out first.

The official music video for the album's title song "Wild Side" will arrive on March 28. Besides the title track, Red Velvet's "Bloom" will also include four more new original Japanese songs such as "Marionette," "Snap Snap," "Jackpot" and "Color of Love." These five new Japanese tracks will be accompanied by six other songs, for a total of 11 tunes.

Red Velvet's "Bloom" was initially scheduled for release this past February. However, due to production reasons, the album's release was called put off.

Meanwhile, "Bloom" will officially hit the shelves on April 6. A jacket behind content and Color of Love Lyric Video will come afterward.
