Third Stray Kids Member Tests Positive for COVID-19 — Will Their 'ODDINARY' Comeback Promotions Continue?

Another Stray Kids Member Diagnosed With COVID-19 - What Will Happen to Group's 'ODDINARY' Comeback Promotions?

On March 21, JYP Entertainment released an official statement through Stray Kids' official fan community to announce that another member of the boy group contracted the virus.

The record label said that Stray Kids Seungmin tested positive for COVID-19 on Sunday, March 20.

"Seungmin has been in self-quarantine as a preemptive measure after testing negative on a PCR test on March 19. He then tested positive on the afternoon of March 20 on an additional PCR test," JYPE said.

The agency continued that Seungmin has received two doses of the COVID-19 vaccine, and is currently not showing any symptoms. "He is quarantining per the guidelines of the disease prevention authorities," they said.

JYP Entertainment further stated that all Stray Kids members have been staying in separated living spaces since the afternoon of March 18. "All members continue to focus on personal hygiene and monitor their health," the company added.

With Seungmin becoming the third member of Stray Kids to test positive for COVID-19, following Changbin and Han, the group's comeback promotions for "ODDINARY" were ultimately affected. While the whole promotion will continue, some schedules will be called off.

In particular, Stray Kids' radio show appearances on March 21 and 22 on the SBS POWER FM "Choi Hwa Jung's Power Time" and MBC FM4U's "Kim Shin Young's Noon Song of Hope" have both been canceled.

In addition to this, there will be some changes in the octet's Video Call & Fansign Event scheduled on March 26. The company said that they will discuss with the record store and provide an updated notice regarding the modified date and details of the event once finalized.

Before Seungmin, Changbin was diagnosed with COVID-19 on March 18, while Han tested positive on March 19.

The three members' positive diagnosis for the virus came at a bad time as Stray Kids just recently made their comeback on the 18th with their new mini-album "ODDINARY."

On March 18, all seven songs from "ODDINARY" entered the Spotify Global Top 200. While the title track "MANIAC" debuted at No. 25, "VENOM" landed at No. 60, "Charmer" at No. 72, "FREEZE" at No. 93, "Lonely St." at No. 123, "Muddy Water" at No. 162, and "Waiting For Us" at No. 165.

With their new seven entries on the Spotify Global Top 200, Stray Kids now has a total of 11 songs that entered the tally. This makes them the fourth-generation group with the most entries on the chart in history, surpassing TXT, ITZY, and ENHYPEN, all of whom have four songs.

Moreover, the "million-seller" band now joins BTS and BLACKPINK as the only K-pop groups to chart within the Top 25 of Spotify Global Top 200.

On March 20, Park posted an image showing all songs from Stray Kids' "ODDINARY" on the Spotify Global Top 200. He wrote in the caption, "All songs in the album 'ODDINARY' entered the Spotify Global Top 200. Third K-pop group ever in history. So happy for SKZ & STAY!!"
