BTS Named as 'Person Who Made Korea Shine' by Top 500 CEOs
On March 22 KST, business magazine The New Management revealed that a survey was conducted among the 500 CEOs of the top companies in South Korea. In this survey, the CEOs were asked who they believe is the No. 1 person or people who had made "Korea shine this year."
Among the 500 CEOs who participated, 42.31 percent (around 211) of them voted for global superstars, BTS as the group of people who have made South Korea shine in the past year.
This also earned the group the title of "Person of the Year" by The New Management magazine for doing so.
It is not a surprise that BTS was named by nearly half of the CEOs for their contribution in South Korea. In the past years, the seven-piece boyband has been dominating the world with their music, and major influences on fans, brands, and even social causes.
In fact, BTS was appointed as a Special Presidential Envoy for Future Generations and Culture by South Korean President Moon Jae In. During the 76th United Nations General Assembly in 2021, BTS also gave a speech addressing the youth and the pandemic.
In terms of music, BTS has continuously been breaking numerous world records for their releases. Their more recent tracks in 2021 "Butter," "Permission to Dance," and their collaboration track with Coldplay, "Universe," garnered a lot of traction.

BTS' Latest Activities
BTS also successfully concluded the Los Angeles and Seoul leg of their "Permission to Dance On Stage" concerts. Their four-night concert in Los Angeles welcomed more than 214,000 fans in attendance and grossing a whopping $33.3 million USD. Their three-night Seoul concerts were attended by 45,000 fans and grossed $32.6 million.
The "Butter" hitmakers are now slated to perform and make an appearance at the highly-renowned Grammy Awards this year. They are nominated for Best Pop Duo/Group Performance. This marks BTS' second time to be nominated in the category and the only K-Pop group to be invited and nominated at the ceremony.

With such achievements, BTS has definitely represented South Korea globally.
Following BTS as the second person to be named as the person who "made Korea shine" is soccer player Song Heung Min, with 15.38 percent (around 76) of the votes by CEOs.
Both BTS and Son Heung Min were also named as the "Person of the Year" in 2021.
