'In My Dreams' From Red Velvet's 'The ReVe Festival 2022 - Feel My Rhythm' Was Penned by THIS MBC Announcer

Red Velvet recently dropped their new mini-album "The ReVe Festival 2022 - Feel My Rhythm." It is comprised of the title track "Feel My Rhythm" plus five B-side songs.

While it is common that the agency's in-house producers and composers work on the artists' songs, there are still times when the company would ask other people to contribute. This incident happened to the album production of Red Velvet's latest album.

On March 22, announcer-turned-broadcaster Kim So Young drew attention after she mentioned on her Instagram post the name of one of the lyricists behind one particular track from Red Velvet's "The ReVe Festival 2022 - Feel My Rhythm."

She said, "It's so cool that our Suji is the lyricist for Red Velvet's new song. I'm listening to it on repeat while riding public transportation."

Suji or Kim Suji is currently an MBC announcer. She joined the network in 2017 and served as an anchor on programs like "News Today" and "News Desk."

Kim Suji herself talked about her participation in the mini-album. In her Instagram post, she personally revealed that she wrote the lyrics for "In My Dreams," the sixth and final track in "The ReVe Festival 2022 - Feel My Rhythm."

She continued that the moment she heard the demo of "In My Dreams," it reminded her of Michel Gondry's "The Science of Sleep." "I created a dreamlike world in my head while I was working on it," she said.

Kim went on to say, "Do I dare to ruin this beautiful piece of music? I held my head in struggle every time I heard the demo of Red Velvet's song. But as I wanted to try it out, I gave my best even though it was hard. It's an honor for me to be able to participate in the album."

She then mentioned the time Red Velvet members Seulgi and Yeri said that "In My Dreams" is their favorite song because the "lyrics are so good." "I can't believe it. I love you, Red Velvet," she concluded.

The time when Seulgi and Yeri revealed it was on March 21 when the girl group held a live broadcast and the members picked their favorite song from "The ReVe Festival 2022 - Feel My Rhythm."

Reportedly, Kim Suji doesn't only focus on being an MBC announcer, but she also works as a lyricist nowadays. It is said that she penned the lyrics for CIX's "Breath."

Red Velvet Scores Highest Debut and Streams on Spotify Top Songs Global for an SM Artist

In other news, Red Velvet successfully debuted on Spotify's Top Songs Global chart (dated March 21).

In particular, the title track "Feel My Rhythm" claimed the No. 102 on the tally after gaining a total of 1,010,725 streams. This is not only the group's highest debut and streams to date, but also the highest for any SM artist.

On top of that, Red Velvet entered Spotify's Top Artists Global chart for the first time since their debut in 2014, securing the No. 123 spot.
