Henry's Promotions in South Korea Faces Backlash Due to Pro-China Sentiments
It was reported that Henry will be participating in the dancer edition of the new season of JTBC's program "Begin Again." According to reports, Henry will be joining several well known dancers, some of who competed on the Mnet dance competition program "Street Woman Fighter," such as Aiki, Lia Kim, Lee Jung, Park Hye Rim, and more, on the show.
However, following reports of Henry's participation on the show, the former Super Junior-M member has once again come under fire and is receiving immense backlash from Korean netizens.
This is because Henry gained his popularity by appearing on Korean entertainment shows and by actively promoting in South Korea.
However, in recent months, Henry has been heavily criticized by Koreans for being more focused on his Chinese activities and showing support to China.
Some of the things Henry has done to show he is pro-China are wearing face masks that have the words "I love China" written on it, defending China's sovereign claim over South China Sea, and deleting comments criticizing China on his Youtube channel.

He was also criticized for allegedly contributing to China's cultural appropriation over kimchi (Korean traditional side dish) and hanbok (Korean traditional clothing).
Korean netizens are now criticizing Henry, with many pointing out whether or not it is right for him to promote Korean street dance culture, when he himself is pro-China.
Henry Draws Criticism as School Violence Prevention Ambassador for Mapo Police Station
This isn't the first time Henry has drawn criticism for his activities in South Korea.
The Canadian star also aggravated the public after he was appointed by the Mapo Police Station as their new ambassador for school violence prevention, in which Henry was supposed to participate in posters, video displays, and visit schools in the area to conduct the campaign.

An official from the Mapo Police Station stated that the ambassadorship is "unpaid volunteer work," and that Henry had readily accepted the activity despite his busy schedules.
Following this, Henry later released an apology letter, which further brought backlash after netizens found his apology filled with grammar and spelling mistakes.
Currently, Mapo Police Station is considering to withdraw Henry's ambassadorship.
JTBC's "Begin Again" has also yet to comment on the issue.
