On March 25, MAMAMOO's documentary "Where Are We Now" was released. There, the MAMAMOO members had time to talk about their feelings after their debut honestly.

In particular, Hwasa, who first garnered attention for her unique performance and bold outfits, revealed she suffered a lot due to the number of malicious comments she received over her appearance.

As Hwasa recalled when she was flooded with malicious comments, she surprised everyone when she said, "I thought it was unfortunate. Communication with fans through music was all I had, but I started to hate doing music."

Hwasa revealed a time in the past when she was deeply depressed. She even had thoughts such as, "Will this situation be over if I died?"

Hwasa revealed she seriously considered whether this life was worth living. However, she showed her mature inner self, saying, "This is not an emotion I feel alone. This is an issue most people in the world probably face."

This is not the first time Hwasa has spoken about the malicious comments. In 2019, Hwasa appeared on SBS's "We Will Channel You," she revealed she received several negative comments over how she dressed. The female idol revealed that some even accused her of wanting to go out naked.

The CEO of RBW, Kim Do Hoon, also spoke on the matter. He revealed that at the time, Hwasa was a little heavier than she is now but still chose to wear bold outfits. Some people would think she was refreshing and fun, but those with more conservative perspectives would say that she was "too much."

During their early days, many people would say that they did not like her and wanted her to stop performing. Kim Do Hoon added, "In the world, a woman's beauty is always evaluated a lot."

Lee Hyori also appeared in the documentary and spoke about Hwasa's "no bra" controversy. She revealed that Hwasa is not the type of person who intends to stir the pot or start controversy. Though she looks fierce on stage, Hwasa is actually calm and gentle in real life.
