Rocket Punch Temporarily Discontinues Activities Following COVID-19 Diagnosis of Two Members

On April 8, Woollim Entertainment released an official statement to update the fans' on the health status of the Rocket Punch members.

The company revealed that two members, particularly Yunkyoung and Suyun tested positive for COVID-19 after developing mild cold symptoms on April 7.

"Suyun and Yunkyoung have each completed three doses of the COVID-19 vaccine, and they do not currently have any other symptoms besides mild cold symptoms," Woollim added.

In accordance with the guidelines of health authorities, the two will go into self-quarantine to focus on their recovery and treatment.

Meanwhile, the other Rocket Punch members all tested negative and do not currently exhibit any particular symptoms.

But, because Yunkyoung and Suyun tested positive for the virus, Woollim Entertainment decided to halt their activities in the meantime.

The company said, "Due to the current situation, it is difficult for Rocket Punch to take part in the previously scheduled 'YELLOW PUNCH' album signing event. We will make another announcement in the future about Rocket Punch's return to activities."

Finally, Woollim stated, "We apologize for giving you cause for concern. We consider the health of our artists and staff our top priority, and we will do our utmost to support our artists' speedy recovery while adhering to the guidelines of health authorities. Thank you."

Rocket Punch's Recent Activities

Before the two members were diagnosed with COVID-19, Rocket Punch made a comeback with their fourth EP "Yellow Punch" on Feb. 28.

"Yellow Punch" is composed of the title song "CHIQUITA" plus five B-side tracks. "CHIQUITA" meshes '80s disco and Eurodance, and its lyrics express the girls' confidence in being themselves.

In the first week of its release, Rocket Punch's "Yellow Punch" sold a total of 10,538 copies on the Hanteo Chart. This is their second album to reach 10,000 sales in the first week, after their first single album "Ring Ring."

"Yellow Punch" successfully debuted at No. 34 on the Worldwide iTunes Album Chart - the group's highest position on the tally to date. The mini-album also landed inside the top 10 on iTunes K-pop Album Chart in various countries, including Japan, the United States, the United Kingdom, Turkey, Australia, and more.

Additionally, the EP made it to the Top 100 of the US iTunes Album Chart at No. 65.

On YouTube, Rocket Punch's "CHIQUITA" music video garnered 5.1 million views in just the first 24 hours after it was uploaded. The MV has reached 9.6 million views, as of this writing.

Following their comeback in February, Rocket Punch held both online and offline fan meetings earlier this April.

Titled "Punch Time2," the event is the group's first fan meeting in two years and five months. It took place at YES24 Live Hall for two consecutive days, from April 2 to 3.
