Former GFRIEND Sowon Reveals Members Didn't Know They Were Disbanding
Recently on April 7, one netizen took to the online community forum The Qoo where they shared an excerpt from a past interview of Sowon (now promoting as Kim So Jung), who is the former leader of Source Music's girl group GFRIEND, with Big Issue.
In the interview that was shared by the netizen, Sowon had revealed that she and her fellow GFRIEND members didn't expect the group to disband, and that it was challenging for them to part ways with the group as they didn't know they were disbanding.
"The members and I didn't think the group was disbanded. However, it is true that it was really difficult for us to accept it in our hearts as [the disbandment] was so sudden," Sowon began.
She continued, "I did think that I wanted to become an actress and act, but I didn't expect that time to be now. It was really difficult to say goodbye, but we have to live with it and I can't just struggle."
She added that the disbandment took a long time for her to accept logically, but now nearly a year has passed and all of the members are adjusting well to it. "I think I am the one who has adjusted the least," Sowon said.

In fact, Sowon isn't the first member who expressed her shock over GFRIEND's disbandment. Fellow member SinB revealed back in March that the group didn't expect that "MAGO" would be their last release as a group, nor would they disband so early. However, she believes that GFRIEND would reunite once again in the future.
Netizens who saw the post, which has now gathered more than 171,000 views, also expressed their sadness over the group's unexpected disbandment, which shocked numerous fans.

Former GFRIEND Sowon's Latest Activities
Following GFRIEND's disbandment back on May 22, 2021, after six years of promotions, Sowon parted ways with Source Music and signed an exclusive contract with IOK Company as an actress.
Since then, she has been promoting under her real name, Kim So Jung.
In September 2021, Sowon was casted in the upcoming television film "Chilling Co-Habitation" alongside Jung Chan Woo. She is also currently filming for the film "4:44 Seconds."
