The company stated that KARD has started preparing a new album following their hiatus due to member J.Seph's military service. KARD is preparing to have a comeback before their South American tour in July 2022.
J.Seph enlisted for his mandatory military service on October 5, 2020, as a military soldier. Since J.Seph's enlistment, KARD did not make a comeback. However, they did perform as three during the second season of KCON's KCON:TACT from October 16 to 25.

This is because member Somin used to be the leader of APRIL but left in 2015. Back in 2021, former member APRIL Hyunjoo accused her members of bullying her while she was a member. While Somin left APRIL, she was their leader while Hyunjoo was in the group, leading many to speculate Somin was one of the members who bullied Hyunjoo.
DSP Media denied these claims, saying that she did her best as a leader and that the claims that she disliked or bullied a member are untrue.

Somin also subtly denied the claims by posting on Instagram. The photo reads, "I thought I just had to live my left being round and kind. However, I realize that life is not like that. If you are too round, you will be kicked here and there. You will end up rolling around everywhere. So there is a need for me to live with some edges."
This post only brought backlash, with people accusing Somin of shifting the blame. She soon deleted the post.

However, her involvement in the scandal has not been forgotten. People are bringing up how Somin was allegedly involved in the Hyunjoo bullying case. They even claimed that this proved Somin had a personality problem. Others are mentioning that it is a shame Somin was involved in the scandal, as KARD has good music.
