IVE Says Starship Trainees Are Given a Curriculum - But It's Unlike What Students Have

On April 14, MMTG released a new episode where the IVE members talked about their trainee periods with the show host Jaejae.

IVE and Jaejae first watched a video displaying IVE's splendid stage presence. Afterward, Leeseo shared, "When you visit Starship, there's a curriculum."

When asked to elaborate what Leeseo said, Gaeul surprised Jaejae as she revealed, "In the first period, we receive selfie lessons." An Yujin added, "I was so bad at taking selfies that I would take two everyday and get them checked. It was my daily mission."

Apart from the selfie lesson, Starship trainees also receive a lesson on how to do short-form content, such as TikTok videos. This fact shocked not only the "MMTG" production crew but also An Yujin and Jang Wonyoung.

IVE Rei said, "I would film TikToks and get them checked. When I sent them by myself from my home, I would receive feedback like, 'At this part, let's try a facial expression like this.'"

She continued that she would have to add in the effects herself and would edit and add in the sparkling hearts herself and practice like that.

While TikTok was launched in 2016, it only rose to popularity in 2020 when the COVID-19 pandemic began. It was also until recently that other social media apps like YouTube and Facebook added a feature where users can create short-form content.

An Yujin and Jang Wonyoung had already debuted back in 2018 as IZ*ONE members and have been training at Starship Entertainment before that. Hence, it is no surprise that they are unaware of the class focused on making short-form videos.
