aespa's 'Savage' Wins at iF Design Award 2022 Beating Other Entries Around the World
On April 20, media outlets reported that aespa has won in one of the main categories at this year's iF Design Award.
In particular, aespa's "Savage" (P.O.S. version) was the winner in the User Experience (UX)-Packaging UX category. The K-pop album beat 11,000 entries from 57 countries.
In March 2022, about 75 experts from across the globe came together to select the winners in the iF Design Awards 2022. The jury session lasted for three days. Behind closed doors, the jury examined, touched, explored, tested, analyzed, and thoroughly discussed all entries.

iF Design Award is one of the three major design awards in the world, along with Germany's Red Dot Design and the United States' IDEA Award, and is the most prestigious award in the design field.
On their website, the design awards said, "K-pop girl group aespa's first mini-album 'Savage' contains aespa's worldview, telling a story of aespa in the real world meeting their avatar counterparts, æ-aespa, created by member's digital data in a virtual space called 'KWANGYA.'"
They added that the key image in aespa's "Savage" is the transporting portal that girl group uses to get to KWANGYA "where they fall into Black Mamba's 'HALLUCINATION QUEST.'

iF Design Award finally said, "In order to express the 'HALLUCINATION QUEST,' a motif was taken from a snake's traits [and] mixed with 3D artwork. To share this with users, UX design was utilized to allow for 360° AR experience."

aespa's Comeback with 'Savage'
The mini-album "Savage" is aespa's latest music release. It was released in October of last year and consists of six songs including the title track "Savage."
In continuation to their previous tracks, "Savage" follows the girl group's unique storyline and tells the story of how the members and their avatars "ae" receive the help of "naevis" and head to KWANGYA to fight the villain Black Mamba.
On the day of its release (Oct. 5), the title song "Savage" rose to No 1 on real-time charts of Korean music charts including Bugs, Genie, and MelOn.

The mini-album ranked first on iTunes Album charts in 17 countries including New Zealand, Denmark, Australia, Brazil, Russia, India, Oman, Taiwan, and more. "Savage" also topped both the real-time charts of China's QQ Music and Japan's AWA.
What's more, aespa's "Savage" debuted at No. 20 on Billboard 200 - the highest peak for a debut album by a female K-pop artist in history.
"Savage" went on to spend two weeks on the popular Billboard album chart, making aespa the fourth K-pop girl group to ever spend more than one week on the tally after BLACKPINK, TWICE, and ITZY.
aespa's "Savage" joined BLACKPINK's "Kill This Love," ITZY's "CRAZY IN LOVE," and TWICE's "Taste of Love" and "Formula of Love: O+T=<3" to chart for two weeks on Billboard 200.
