BTS V Achieves New Spotify Feats as 'Christmas Tree' Hits 100 Million Streams

BTS V Scores New Spotify Feats as 'Christmas Tree' Reaches 100 Million Streams

On April 27, the number of streams of BTS V's "Christmas Tree" ultimately crossed 100 million streams after it hit 90 million streams as of the 10th.

"Christmas Tree" serves as an original soundtrack for the SBS drama "Our Beloved Summer," starring Choi Woo Sik and Kim Da Mi. It was released on Dec. 24, 2021, meaning it took the song 124 days to accumulate 100 million streams on Spotify - the shortest period for a Korean OST.

Taehyung's "Christmas Tree" has now surpassed the idol's other OST "Sweet Night" as the fastest Korean OST to gain 100 million streams on the world's largest music streaming platform. "Sweet Night" achieved the feat after 318 days of its release on March 13, 2020.

On top of that, BTS member V now becomes the first and only Korean soloist to have two OSTs with 100 million streams on Spotify. He is also now the second Korean male artist, after BTS, to have multiple OSTs that have attained the milestone.

Furthermore, Kim Taehyung has become the first and only K-pop idol to have a total of five solo songs that reached 100 million streams on Spotify. In addition to "Sweet Night" and "Christmas Tree," V's other solo songs are "Singularity," "Stigma" and "Inner Child."

To celebrate the 100 million streams of Taehyung's "Christmas Tree," ARMYs took to Twitter to include "#ChristmasTree100M" and "100M MOMENTS WITH V" in their congratulatory posts. These two keywords occupied the top 2 spots on Twitter's worldwide trends at approximately 11:14 p.m. KST.

Since it came out in December of last year, BTS V's "Christmas Tree" has been making history on different music charts and streaming sites, including Billboard.

To recall, "Christmas Tree" debuted at No. 1 on Billboard Digital Song Sales Chart, making Kim Taehyung the first Korean soloist in history to land on top of the tally with a solo song. "Christmas Tree" also became the first Korean OST to reach No. 1.

Aside from this, Taehyung's "Christmas Tree" also became the first Korean OST to ever debut on Billboard's Hot 100 chart. It entered at No. 79 during the week ending on Jan. 8 this year.

BTS V Becomes Most-Followed Korean Artist on Spotify Without an Album

In related news, BTS V now has the most followers on Spotify among the Korean artists without a single album on their profile.

As of April 22, Taehyun's Spotify profile surpassed seven million followers despite having only three OSTs ("Christmas Tree," "Sweet Night," and "It's Definitely You").

This also makes V the fourth most-followed K-pop solo artist and the ninth most-followed K-pop artist. In the top 5, he is the only Korean soloist without an official solo debut or mixtape release.

This 2022, BTS V is the most-followed Korean solo artist as of April 25 with more than two million additional followers.
