EXO Chanyeol Hints at Potential Solo Debut Following Military Discharge
On April 29, a fansigning event for the military musical "Meissa's Song" was held after the latest performance.
"Meissa's Song" stars EXO Chanyeol, INFINITE L, B.A.P. Daehyun, actor Jang Ki Yong, and more. It is set in two countries with different cultures: the fictional nation of Kamur, where a civil war is taking place for a long period, and Korea, where K-pop auditions are being held. The story is about Raman who went from Kamur to Korea to look for the dispatched soldier Meissa, who encouraged him to become a K-pop idol.

During the fansign, some fans grabbed the chance to ask EXO Chanyeol regarding his plans after his military discharge, and one of them was able to get the biggest scoop yet.
This particular fan asked the "Don't Fight the Feeling" rapper if he plans on releasing a solo album, and in response, the EXO rapper said, "Of course! Immediately after I get discharged from the army."
The fan took to Weibo to share the big news and it quickly spread on Twitter, with many fans expressing their excitement over EXO Chanyeol's solo debut.

In case no other EXO member will make his solo debut before Chanyeol's military discharge, Chanyeol will be the seventh member to become a solo artist, after Baekhyun, Lay, Suho, Chen, Kai, and D.O.
Chanyeol enlisted in the army on March 29, 2021 and is expected to be discharged in September this year. He will be the fifth EXO member to complete his military service, following Xiumin, D.O., Suho, and Chen.

EXO Chanyeol's Solo Release After His Military Enlistment
On April 6, EXO member Chanyeol released a new song through SM Station titled "Tomorrow."
A minimal acoustic pop song, "Tomorrow" contains candid lyrics about one's future. The rapper took part in writing the lyrics for the track and prepared it before his military enlistment.
Shortly after the song came out, it soared to the top of iTunes charts in at least 24 countries, including Saudi Arabia, Poland, Greece, Laos, Vietnam, Columbia Oman, Bulgaria, Philippines, and more.
As of June 13, 2021, "Tomorrow" has reached a total of 54 No. 1s on iTunes Song charts. It is the second-most No. 1s for a song by an SM artist. Notably, it is the first SM Station song to hit 50 No. 1s.

EXO Chanyeol's "Tomorrow" also landed at No. 8 on the Worldwide iTunes Song Chart and No. 24 on the European iTunes Song Chart.
Furthermore, the SM Station song debuted at No. 15 on Bugs in South Korea, and No. 92 on China's QQ Single Popularity Chart.
On YouTube, the "Tomorrow" music video hit one million views in less than one day. It then surpassed four million views as of June 15 and exceeded five million views on Sept. 25.
