This past April, the "Butter" singers were revealed to have a total of seven nominations at the said award ceremony - the most nominations of any group or duo in history. They are running for Top Duo/Group (for the fourth consecutive year), Top Song Sales Artist, Top Billboard Global Artist (Excluding U.S.) and Top Billboard Global Song (Excluding U.S.) (with "Butter").

BTS is also nominated for Top Selling Song (for both "Butter" and "Permission to Dance") and Top Rock Song with "My Universe" (with Coldplay).

According to a local news outlet, BTS decided not to attend the 202 Billboard Music Awards to focus on preparing their new album, which is due out on June 10. It is also said that no performances are planned.

But, if they win an award, the septet will send their acceptance speech through a video.

Meanwhile, the 2022 Billboard Music Awards is happening on May 15 at 8 p.m. (local time) and will be broadcast live on NBC and will stream live on Peacock. The ceremony, hosted by Sean "Diddy" Combs, will honor this year's top artists on the Billboard charts in a total of 62 categories.
