On May 10, Jessica Jung released the book "Bright," a sequel to her previous novel, "Shine." There, the idol wrote about the main character, Rachel, being forced out of her group due to a fashion line.

In the book, Rachel is seen speaking with her fellow eight members. She revealed that she refuses to stop her fashion line and will not quit the group. The different members have different reactions; some are relieved, some are sympathetic, while two members are visibly annoyed.
After being ridiculed for not taking the group's concerns into account, Rachel states that she took all their concerns into account. However, she loves both things too much to let them go. She adds that she has always been dedicated to the book and has done her best not to let the members down.

The excerpts reveal that the girls were preparing for concerts in Los Angeles, with a member calling Rachel out for waltzing in whenever she wanted while the other members showed up on time. Rachel fights back, pointing out that the member had missed several appearances due to a movie filming.
The situation is shrugged off as the members decide to practice for the concerts rather than argue. However, their CEO tells Rachel the next day that the eight members of Girls Forever (the girl group she is in) approached him and said her fashion line blindsided them. The members revealed they did not want to perform in the LA concerts if Rachel was going, which led to her being kicked out of the group.

Since she was kicked out, she has not had contact with her former groupmates. It hurts her heart to think about them, but the pain is now tolerable. Rachel adds that it is strange that there will never be photos of them as nine again, and the thought tightens her heart and causes a lump in her throat.

In September 2014, Jessica Jung took to her Weibo to announce that she had been "forced out" of the girl group. SM Entertainment confirmed that Jessica Jung would be leaving Girls' Generation, and the group would continue as eight.
Jessica released another statement through her fashion label, Blanc & Eclare. There, she revealed that while her company and members were initially supportive of her fashion line, they changed their position a month after she opened her line.

They held a meeting, demanding Jessica quit her fashion line or leave the group. Jessica pleaded with the group, stating that she never neglected Girls' Generation and could not possibly stop her business due to contracts with partners. She added that Girls' Generation was the best thing in her life, and she never had thoughts of quitting.
After, she received a one-sided notice asking her to leave Girls' Generation. She informs fans that she never wanted to leave Girls' Generation, and it pains her heart that the reason she was kicked out was that she started a business.
