5 K-Pop Idols Who Left Their Groups in 2022

These five K-pop idols announced their departure from their groups in 2022.

1. Jiho - Oh My Girl

On May 9, WM Entertainment announced that Jiho would be leaving Oh My Girl and the company following the expiration of her seven-year contract. The idol expressed her desire to pursue a new dream, and the label respected her decision.

Jiho released a handwritten letter to Oh My GIrl's fan cafe confirming the news. Furthermore, she informed the fans that she would support Oh My Girl's future activities as a member of Miracle (Oh My Girl's fanbase) and not as a group member.

2. Naeun - Apink

On April 28, Naeun announced her departure from Apink after nearly 11 years as a member.

She stated that after a lot of debate, she made the decision to leave Apink. She will be cheering on the girl group as part of Panda (Apink's fanbase). However, she will always cherish her time as Apink's Son Naeun.

The idol-actress also promised fans that she would show them better things in the future to not bring shame to her Apink Son Naeun name.

3. Denise - Secret Number

On February 5, Denise took to her Instagram to announce her contract with Vine Entertainment had been terminated, signaling her departure from Secret Number. She was a member of the group for almost two years. However, she did not promote "Fire Saturday" with the group in October 2021.

She expressed her gratitude for her time as a Secret Number member in her letter. She also added that she would continue to support her members. She also thanked her former agency and staff for taking care of her.

4. Somyi - DIA

On January 9, PocketDol Studio released a statement confirming Somyi is no longer a member of DIA and that her exclusive contract with the agency was terminated due to health reasons. However, she never released a statement on the matter.

Somyi debuted with DIA in 2017. She stopped promoting with the group in 2020. Her last release with DIA was their sixth mini-album, "Flower 4 Seasons."

5. Chihoon - TO1

Chihoon is the only male idol on the list.

On April 30, WAKEONE Entertainment took to TO1's fan cafe to announce that Chihoon's contract with the agency was canceled and that he would be leaving the group.

No explanation was given as to why he terminated his contract. TO1 had just celebrated their second debut anniversary on April 1.
