On May 13, Korean media outlet OSEN released an exclusive interview with former SISTAR member Hyolyn. The questions were regarding the female idol's label Bridge, which she established back in November 2017 in Hapjeong-dong, Mapo-gu, Seoul.

Hyolyn told OSEN, "At first, it was very difficult to jump into a world without knowing anything about it. It felt like I was a baby who knew nothing about the world and life, but now I'm used to it."

She added, "I think I'm in kindergarten now. When I first started, I was at the level of a newborn baby. Of course, there are still many shortcomings and hardships, but in the beginning, I didn't immediately come up with a way to deal with a certain situation wisely."

The "Shake It" singer further confessed, "It was hard to the point where I thought, 'Why not just do it?' or 'Why did I set up a one-man agency?', but now I really like it."

Bridge has a total of six employees to date, including Hyolyn who is also the company's only artist. Although it is currently a one-person agency, the former SISTAR member revealed her intention to recruit new artists in the future.

Hyolyn said, "If given the opportunity, I would like to create a team like a Bridge family and go on concerts and tours together. I'm always thinking of recruiting new artists. If there's a chance, I want to produce rookie idols."

She then revealed that she's more interested in creating solo artists than idol groups. "I think it would be fun to do a collaboration that combines the colors of each solo artist with me," she explained.

At the time Bridge was established, a source from the label said that Hyolyn decided to create her own agency to make music with diverse creative directors of various fields. It was also revealed that the female idol founded Bridge in hopes of becoming the bridge that links her music to the public.

Hyolyn established Bridge two months after she left Starship Entertainment and five months following SISTAR's disbandment.

Former SISTAR Hyolyn's Recent Activities

Hyolyn kicked off the new year with the release of the single "Layin' Low" on Jan. 12. This is her first music release in more than a year since her second EP "Say My Name" came out in August 2020.

Featuring male soloist Jooyoung, "Layin' Low" was supposed to be out in November of last year but was postponed to this year to make a more complete single.

Because the song's release was delayed, the female soloist dropped a special Christmas single titled "A-Ha" on Dec. 22.

Hyolyn's "Layin' Low" debuted at No. 123 on the Worldwide iTunes Song Chart. It also made it to various Korean music charts on the day of its release. The track landed at No. 78 on Bugs, No. 233 on Genie, and No. 418 on MelOn.

For the week of Jan. 14 to 20, "Layin' Low" entered at No. 161 on Spotify's Weekly Global Chart in South Korea.

Currently, Hyolyn is competing in Mnet's new idol competition show "Queendom 2."
