On May 13, former NU'EST member Aron guested on the eighth episode of the podcast "Korean Cowboys." There, he candidly talked about the anxiety and depression he had suffered before his group disbanded.

The topic for the latest episode was mental health and mental wellness, and Aron didn't hesitate to confess that he had suffered from mild depression and anxiety. He disclosed that at one point, he struggled due to the pressure and burden he had.

The "FACE" singer detailed that he did not feel like a productive member and was not bringing much success to his team because he was the only member who didn't participate in the popular survival show "Produce 101" (Season 2) back in 2017.

It can be recalled that NU'EST rose to popularity after the members' appearance on the program and Minhyun re-debuting in the project group WANNA ONE.

"And starting from that point on, I felt like I had a big weight on my shoulders," the idol shared.

Aron continued that he wanted to leave NU'EST, explaining that he didn't want to depend on the success of his members for him to achieve his own.

So because of the burden he was carrying, he told the company about it, saying "I didn't even go on the show for six months. I didn't do anything. I think I just want to leave."

But his management agency (Pledis Entertainment) told him not to and suggested that he just have to work hard. The label also told him, "It's okay. It's not like you didn't do anything for the last five or six years. You worked your a** off too."

Apart from Pledis, Aron also talked to his members about his plan to leave the band, but his bandmates encouraged him to stay as well.

"To this day, I'm still grateful to my members for that. And my company, too. They really helped me through a weird time," the idol said.

Former NU'EST member Aron went on to share that it was during that period where he started seeing signs of social anxiety. Because of these symptoms, he took on a temporary hiatus from the end of 2020 until mid 2021.

Aron then returned to group activities in June 2021 and hosted "Circle Room," a talk show exclusively on Twitter. He also participated in the group's in-person concert in November, and even appeared and performed at the 2021 Asia Artist Awards, 2021 KBS Song Festival, and SBS Gayo Daejeon.

In February this year, Aron was one of the NU'EST members who decided not to renew his contract with Pledis Entertainment (alongside JR and Ren), resulting in the group's disbandment.

NU'EST's Last Comeback Before Disbandment

Before they could disband, NU'EST made a comeback in April 2021 with their second studio album "Romanticize." The album consists of a total of 10 songs including the title track "Inside Out."

During their comeback promotions, the boy group was able to win a total of four music show trophies for "Inside Out." Moreover, "Romanticize" reached No. 2 on the Gaon Album Chart and No. 5 on the Oricon Album Chart.

After disbandment, NU'EST released a compilation album titled "Needle & Bubble."
