SEVENTEEN Reveals Who Initiates the Contract Renewal First + Narrates Meeting With Company
On the original Watcha entertainment program, "Goblin Who Steals Wisdom," which aired on May 24, the global group SEVENTEEN has narrated the behind-the-scenes story of their early contract renewal with their agency Pledis Entertainment.
There, SEVENTEEN members all picked Mingyu when asked by the MCs, "Who is the top contributor to the renewal of all SEVENTEEN contracts?"

In regard to what motivated him the most to initiate the early contract renewal, the "Attacca" singer shared his love for the members, saying:
"It was not difficult to bring up the topic (to the members) first because the thought that we would do it all together (as a 13-member group) was so strong in my head."
As the broadcast went on, Seungkwan also shared a behind-the-scenes story of how they met with the company together.
"From the time we held the renewal meeting with the company, we usually go in one member at a time, but we say, 'Let's not make a fuss about it individually, let's go in as a group at once. Even if we say it, let's all talk together.'"
SEVENTEEN Confesses Main Conflict During Contract Renewal Process
When asked what was the main problem at the time of their renewal, member Woozi honestly stated that one of the conflicts they faced was money or income distribution.
Woozi expressed:
"It was not easy to face the reality. You have to talk about money and the future with friends with whom you always laugh together. We all have the same feelings of liking each other, but it was hard because the moment came when we had to talk about deep things even if we didn't want to."
Seungkwan further narrated:
"We had to decide the contract period for how many years and also the profit ratio. In a way, (we) had to make a deal with the company, but we thought about it then, we weren't just kids."
Meanwhile, SEVENTEEN signed an early contract in its sixth year of debut in July last year. Their contract was supposed to expire in 2022, but all 13 members re-sign their contract with the company for five more years until 2027.
On May 27, They are set to release their fourth full-length album "Face the Sun," drawing attention.
