On June 3, Vogue Australia released their interview with BLACKPINK member Rosé. There, the female idol spoke about her trainee life in YG Entertainment.

She revealed that though she loved music, she never thought it was a dream she could grasp. While studying in Melbourne, she always thought she would have a normal job, life as an art teacher. She was never informed nor educated about how to get to her dreams.

Despite that, Rosé was always looking out for extraordinary things. When she was 15 years old, she auditioned for YG Entertainment and moved to South Korea. After four years of training, she debuted with BLACKPINK.

Rosé spoke about how her life as a trainee was a constant fight-or-flight experience. She tells Vogue that she revealed how intense the training was when she got to Korea. At the time, 12 other girls had been training for about five years. She was the newest trainee on the black.

This sent Rosé into a panic. She recalls the internal monologue she had at the time, saying, "If I do not catch up, I am going to be cut and sent right back to Australia, where I had told all my friends that I was dropping out of school and working my music."

Because of that, Rosé was constantly in "fight" mode. She was determined to stay and prove herself, leaving her no choice but to persist. Finally, she confessed to Vogue that she did not want to fly back to Australia without achieving anything.

"I ended up fighting for my life, training for my life," Rosé tells the publication. The idol states that she could not accept the fact that she could be cut and sent back. "So I had no time to slack off. I remember I took every minute and every second to work on my craft so I could make it."

She now considers the fact that she had flown all the way from Australia as a good drive, as it gave her the strength and determination to strive for her dreams.

BLACKPINK Rosé Confesses Feeling of Being 'Out of Place' in South Korea

The idol also opened up about feeling out of place in South Korea during the interview.

Though ethnically Korean, Rosé was born in Auckland, New Zealand, and raised in Melbourne, Australia. She is both Korean and Australian, both Park Chaeyoung and Roseanne Park. Because she was raised in a different country, Rosé revealed she sometimes feels out of place in Korea.

She tells the publication that she sometimes feels out of place, even with Koreans who speak English. Rosé says, "Even if they speak English, they usually have come from the States or elsewhere."

Somedays, she feels unique for being Korean-Australian, but she feels out of place on other days. However, she added that she is grateful to have a bit of a difference.
