An influencer named Diesel Man shared an anecdote about how he almost met up with Karina before she debuted. In his post, he stated that when Karina was 16 years old, she followed him on Instagram and slid into his direct messages.
At the time, Karina was in ninth grade and was a popular ulzzang (someone famous for their visuals). The two started talking for weeks and had even made plans to meet up. Karina was living in Seongnam-si at the time, and Diesel Man made plans to go there to meet her.

However, one day, Karina's Instagram suddenly disappeared. It is speculated that it was deleted because Karina was cast by SM Entertainment and had passed her audition, causing her to sign with the label. SM Entertainment is known for prohibiting their artists from using a public social media account.
In the past, Karina revealed her ideal type through social media before signing with SM Entertainment. She has stated that she likes a man with a height of 185cm, a pretty nose, and is chic. She wants someone tall and even looks more at height than at their visuals. However, she cares more about their personality and likes handsome guys more than cute guys. Lastly, she wants to date someone who only likes her.

Many believe Diesel Man perfectly fits Karina's ideal type, and since Diesel Man was able to name Karina's residence at that time, people think Diesel Man is telling the truth.
While SM Entertainment has not released a statement on the matter, Sojang has put the video on private after less than 24 hours. The reason he unlisted the video is unknown.
