aespa's 'Girls' Records 2nd Highest Pre-Orders Among Girl Group Albums in History
On June 9, SM Entertainment announced that aespa's second mini-album "Girls" had reached one million stock pre-orders-marking the quartet's highest number of stock pre-orders to date.
The number of stock pre-orders is the amount of album stock that is produced ahead of the album's official release. The total is the approximate demand calculated using different factors, including how many albums fans pre-ordered.

Notably, "Girls" hit the one-million mark just one week after the pre-orders opened. What's more impressive is that SM Entertainment is yet to release details regarding the album.
With this, aespa's "Girls" is not only the girl group album with the second-highest pre-orders, but it's also the second girl group album in history to achieve the feat (following BLACKPINK's "THE ALBUM" with 1,028,888 pre-orders).
"Girls" broke the previous record of 700,000 pre-orders set by TWICE's "Formula of Love," which came out in November of last year. "Girls" is now the only album by a fourth-generation group in the Top 5 albums by girl groups with highest stock pre-orders in history.

If the stock pre-orders will eventually become physical sales, aespa "Girls" would become the best-selling album by a girl group under SM Entertainment. It would surpass S.E.S's "LOVE" that only sold 760,475 copies back in 1999.
As aespa still has a month left before their comeback on July 8, it remains to be seen how further the album's stock pre-orders will increase over the following weeks.
Meanwhile, the SM girl group will first drop their English song "Life's Too Short" on June 24. The track was first performed at Coachella in April.
Congratulations to aespa on their historic milestone with their second mini-album "Girls"!
