On a broadcast, Yesung opened up about how he decided to become an idol due to his first love. On the same day, he also revealed the time he almost give up Super Junior for THIS reason.
In SBS' "Fantastic Family-DNA Singer," which aired on June 9, Super Junior Yesung and his younger brother Kim Jongjin appeared as participants.
Yesung Reveals Real Reason He Decided to Become Singer
Following the broadcast, the "It Has to Be You" singer didn't only become a hot topic for his incredible vocals, but Yesung also drew attention to stories unveiled in the show.
Yesung, who once dreamed of becoming a basketball player, said:
"I used to be a basketball player at Cheonan's Chungnam tournament. I grew up almost in the first grade of middle school. I was 177 centimeters tall at the time."
When asked why he didn't pursue sports and became a singer instead, Yesung expressed a sweet story about his first love.
"I'm not good at standing in front of others. However, when I was in the second year of middle school, I wanted to look good to my first love, so I went on the festival stage."

Yesung first opened up about his first love in 2012 and narrated that he first met the girl in his 7th grade while on a school trip. His first love's beauty captured his heart and had a desire to see her again.
Unfortunately, he has never sung before, less he wasn't used to being in front of people. But thanks to his first love, he gained the courage to join the festival and gave the snacks he won for being the first place to her.
Just then, Yesung added:
"My younger brother and family saw that (Yesung singing) for the first time. So I participated in an audition."
Jongjin continued:
"It is because of me that my brother joined a large agency. He sang well at the school festival, so I suggested a phone audition as soon as we got home."
Yesung Confesses He Almost Quit Super Junior
After about five years of training, Yesung finally debuted under SM Entertainment as a vocalist for Super Junior.
As the broadcast went on, the "Sorry Sorry" singer confessed that he actually once thought of withdrawing because of his versatile members at the beginning of his debut.
Yesung told the story of how he felt when he made his debut.
"I'm so happy to sing, but when I debuted, it was different from what I thought. I didn't have a chance at all because the members were so good."
He further stated:
"I made my debut after five years of training. Even though I did all the songs in our first album, I never appeared in the music video."
Due to this, Yesung revealed that he left at loss. He even had the thought:
"Should I stop after the first album? Why am I here?"
Thankfully, instead of giving up, Yesung decided to work on his strengths and weaknesses.
"I thought I should make up for it with effort if I had nothing as natural as the members."
Meanwhile, Super Junior, a group to which Yesung belongs, wrapped up its official activities of the title song "Callin" of the special single "The Road: Winter for Spring" in February.
