On June 12, the recent situation of EVERGLOW Yiren, who chose to go to China for academic reasons, became a hot topic.

In particular, Yuehua Entertainment, the agency of the "DUN DUN" singer, initially announced on the group's official fan cafe in January that:

"Wang Yiren will visit China for academic reasons from mid-January to the end of February."

Regarding Yiren's departure to China, the agency added:

"It is for academic purposes, so she will take a break (in China) for a while to spend time with her families she has not met for a while due to COVID-19."

Further, Yuehua stated that EVERGLOW will temporarily continue their group activities as a five-member team.

However, Wang Yiren did not return to Korea even after February. Instead, she is known to have established a private workshop and is also appearing in Chinese entertainment shows.

Although it is undecided whether the Chinese-born star will make a comeback in Korea, K-Forever (EVERGLOW fandom) are anxious about Wang Yiren's move.

The reason is that numerous Chinese K-pop idols who worked in Korea became popular and eventually returned to China to open their individual activities there.

Some of them include former Super Junior Hangeng, former EXO Kris, Luhan and Tao, f(x) Victoria, WJSN Migi and Soni, and former Pristin Kyulkyung.

As most of them left their groups and became inactive in Korea, some fans expressed their concern about whether Yiren will end up like them.

Meanwhile, while Wang Yiren was active in Korea, she did not make a big bow at a fan signing event for New Year which caused controversy among Korean internet users.

At that time, the members greeted their fans with a big bow but Yiren who did the Chinese-style greeting instead was criticized for allegedly being disrespectful.

According to Korean netizens, it is unreasonable for her to not do the bow because she's currently working in Korea, not in China. She was accused of purposely ignoring Korean culture and a lot was frustrated at her for not showing "minimal courtesy."

On the flip side, Chinese netizens praised her actions and emphasized, "Chinese people don't kneel recklessly."

According to Chinese fans, Yiren actually did well for not bowing during the fan sign in Korea because it could stir a huge issue in China instead. After all, the Chinese only kneel to heaven, earth and parents.

Days after the controversy broke, Yuehua Entertainment then announced that the "LA DI DA" singer will temporarily be taking a break from her activities in Korea, but it didn't mention anything about the issue; rather the company clarified that it was for academic purposes.

The last release of EVERGLOW was in December last year through its third EP, "Return of the Girl" and its title track, "Pirate."

Eyes are focused on whether Wang Yiren will finally join the group in their future activities.
