J-Hope Says "Boy Meets Evil" Rough Version Was Originally Included in BTS' "Proof" Tracklist
On June 10, BTS made their highly-awaited comeback with their anthology album "Proof," which includes the group's previous title tracks, unreleased songs, demo versions, solo and unit songs, and three new tracks, "Yet to Come (The Most Beautiful Moment)," "Run BTS," and "For Youth."
In his solo interview with Weverse Magazine published on June 13, J-Hope revealed that another song was supposed to be featured in BTS' "Proof" as well, but he eventually decided to exclude it.

Interviewer Myungseok Kang asked the rapper, "There's a demo version of 'DNA' on 'Proof.' That, too, shares a piece of history. How was it made?"
J-Hope replied, "We were originally going to include a rough version of 'Boy Meets Evil,' but listening to it now, I think, 'Wouldn't it just be better to listen to the final recording?'"
He explained that the rough version doesn't really contain any of the charm that is typically connected with the word "rough." Hence, J-Hope decided to include a different song in BTS' "Proof."'

"So instead, I went looking for something that would make ARMY think, 'You made this?' And that's when I found 'DNA,'" the rapper said. "I listened to it, like, 'What is this?' And then, 'Wow!' I was reminded of my process of working on the song."
As a follow-up question, interviewer Myungseok asked BTS J-Hope what the process of making "DNA" was like. He said, "The way we work, we take anything good any of us has worked on independently and use that, so first I tried making a whole song by myself."

He added that he tried working on "DNA" in a style that he was capable of but he didn't like the way it turned out, so he saved it in his hard drive for some time.
J-Hope finally said, "Then I ended up coming across it again later on, and it's definitely my unique sound, so I thought it really shows the raw originality. I thought it would be fun for ARMY to hear that there was a version of 'DNA' like this before it was released."
