JYP Entertainment Criticized After Revealing Venues for ITZY's 'CHECKMATE' World Tour
On June 16, JYP Entertainment unveiled the venues for the South Korean Leg and American leg of ITZY's "CHECKMATE" world tour. The girl group will first perform in Seoul before heading to the United States to hold concerts in eight different cities. The first part of the tour will take place from late October to mid November this year.

"CHECKMATE" will be ITZY's first-ever world tour in three years since their debut back in February 2019. Hence, MIDZY (ITZY's fan club) is pumped to see the girls perform live in their home cities.

However, not all fans are delighted about the tour due to the fact that the venues for ITZY's concerts in Seoul and in the eight American cities have small capacities.
In particular, SK Olympic Handball Gymnasium (Seoul) can only accommodate 5,000 people, while YouTube Theater (Los Angeles) can hold 6,000 people, Arizona Federal Theatre (Phoenix) with 5,000 people, The Pavilion at Toyota Music Factory (Dallas) with 8,000 people, and Smart Financial Centre at Sugar Land (Houston) with 6,400 people.

Moreover, 4,600 people can only fit at Fox Theatre (Atlanta), 4,400 people at Rosemont Theatre (Chicago), 5,000 people at MGM Music Hall at Fenway (Boston), and 5,600 people at HULU Theater (New York).

Considering this, MIDZYs are expressing their frustration and confusion on why ITZY's "CHECKMATE" world tour has only small venues when the girl group can fill arenas. Fans are asking JYP Entertainment to stop treating ITZY as if they are still rookies.

MIDYZs are pointing out that ITZY sold out 5k-6k halls when they were just months-old rookie group. And now that it has been three years since their debut, they are more popular than before-not to mention one of the top fourth-generation K-pop groups, so fans believe that the girls deserve much bigger venues.

it’s a shame after 3 years of success JYPe gave ITZY venues around the same size as their sold out showcase from 2019 despite the group having grown massively

just so y'all know itzy had the biggest hit song of their career during pandemic and the fact that their popularity even rose up for the past two years just says a lot how they deserve much bigger venues!

We demand for 10-30K capacity arenas for ITZY.

If the group were able to sellout 5K showcases during their debut, they’re 100% able to sellout arenas 3 years later.
