Did you know how HYBE scout the current members of LE SSERAFIM? Check this out!
Here's How 6 LE SSERAFIM Members Were Discovered, Scouted by HYBE:
1. Kim Chaewon
Initially, the leader of LE SSERAFIM Kim Chaewon rose into popularity after her debut as IZ*ONE in 2019. When the team disbanded in 2021, there are reports that she was preparing to debut in a new girl group under Woollim Entertainment, her former agency.
In a recent interview through Weverse then, Chaewon opened up that Source Music under HYBE directly contacted her to inform her that they were preparing to launch a girl group.
On March 14, 2022, HYBE confirmed that Chaewon transferred agency and signed a contract with HYBE.
She explained:
"I still have a lot of dreams I want to achieve, things I want to achieve, and things I haven't shown you, so I wanted to do the group activities again."
2. Miyawaki Sakura
Similar to Kim Chaewon, Sakura is already a well-known idol both in Japan in Korea as former HKT48 and IZ*ONE member.
Originally, after her group activities in Korea, she went back to Japan to pursue her solo career but in an interview through Weverse Magazine, Sakura expressed her desire to show more of her charms and abilities in a group.
Thus, when HYBE sent her a love call to join Source Music's girl group, she accepted this and officially signed with the company on March 14 this year, along with Chaewon.
3. Huh Yunjin
If you watched Mnet's "Produce 48" which debuted IZ*ONE in 2019, Yunjin might be a familiar face to you because she also joined the competition as a participant.
At that time, she participated as a trainee from Pledis Entertainment who came from New York. Growing up as an Asian in a foreign country, she became a target of racism and K-pop became Yunjin's only source of strength to overcome difficulties.
She then decided to audition to become a trainee for Pledis Entertainment. After about four years of training, she was transferred to Source Music, another subsidiary of HYBE after being selected as a member for LE SSERAFIM.
4. Kazuha
Born a Japanese, Kazuha was initially a trained ballet dancer who is already establishing her name in the dance world by winning in international competitions.
Interestingly, Kazuha was studying in the Netherlands at that time when HYBE's CEO flew to the country, found her, and scout her to join their agency.
Initially, she have doubts about whether to pursue ballet or follow her passion for K-pop.
In an interview, Kazuha shared that when she finally decided to take the latter path, she sent an online audition video amid the pandemic. She was fortunately accepted and after about three to four months of training, she finally debuted and the rest is history!
5. Kim Garam
In the same Weverse interview, Kim Garam narrated that she fell in love with singing when she was a child. At that time, she was an introvert but thanks to this, she became an outgoing person, especially when playing karaoke during their family vacation.
In 2018 then, she finally had the courage to join an audition with an invite from a friend. The first company she auditioned for was Source Music but she unfortunately failed.
Two years later, the company that rejected her scouted her to audition for the second time and this time, she was finally accepted and signed with them.
Just after a year of training, Kim Garam was selected to join the final lineup of LE SSERAFIM.
6. Hong Eunchae
Last but not least, the maknae of LE SSERAFIM Eunchae really dreamt of becoming an idol since childhood.
At a young age, she started participating in auditions for various companies including JYP and Pledis Entertainment.
While waiting for the right time, she also enrolled as a student under Def Dance Skool to improve her skills.
In 2021 then, Source Music held an audition in her dance school and after trying out, she was accepted and signed with them immediately.
