What Happened to Weki Meki? Know the Group's Recent Activity Here

Fantagio Music is known to be home to the boy group ASTRO, but the label also currently manages the eight-member girl group Weki Meki. However, the girls aren't as active as their labelmates in the music industry lately, hence, fans wonder what happened to them.

Who Is Weki Meki Under Fantagio?

As mentioned above, Weki Meki is a South Korean girl group under Fantagio, which consists of eight members namely Elly, Suyeon, Yoojung, Sei, Doyeon, Lua, Rina, and Lucy. It is the second girl group that the label formed, following Hello Venus.

Weki Meki, which was called "i-Teen Girls" during their trainee days, debuted in August 2017 with their first EP "Weme," which features the title song "I Don't Like Your Girlfriend." It is worth noting that "Weme" is the best-selling girl group debut album in 2017, selling more than 47,000 copies since its release.

Since their debut, the octet has released five mini-albums, two single albums, and one repackaged album. They have sold more than 180,000 copies of their albums throughout their career, so far.

When Is Weki Meki's Latest Comeback, Activities?

Weki Meki's latest comeback happened on Nov. 18, 2021 when they released their fifth EP "I Am Me," which consists of six songs including the title track "Siesta." "I Am Me" is the girl group's first release after their long hiatus of one year and one month.

At that time, only seven members completed comeback promotions because Kim Doyeon took a temporary break to recover from her wrist injury.

Since then, the "La La La" singers have had no other activities as a team. But the members actively communicated with fans on social media, and some of them carried out a few solo projects.

In particular, Weki Meki Doyeon starred in the SBS comedy drama "One the Woman" as the younger version of Kang Mina (played by Lee Ha Nee).

Sei and Elly appeared in the new interactive, mult-ending drama "Chung Chung Hyang Jeon," along with their labelmate ASTRO Rocky in December 2021.

What Happened to Weki Meki? Here's the Group's Recent Activity

In the past five months, there have been only a few updates on Weki Meki.

On Feb. 23, the group revealed new profile photos for all eight members, who are said to branch out into more individual projects this year. It is said that they will expand their individual activities into a wide array of areas, including music, dance, acting, variety show, and much more throughout 2022.

Weki Meki's latest group content is their web series "Honey Jam Log: Homecoming Party Weki Meki," which exclusively aired on the global fandom platform UNIVERSE. It aired from April 20 to May 13.

Choi Yoojung also had a few solo activities, such as featuring in ASTRO Jinjin's "Lazy" (one of the songs in Jinjin & Rocky's "Restore") and in BOOKKU DDOONG's new song "Fool," which came out on April 27.

Meanwhile, Kim Doyeon was spotted at Seoul Jazz Festival this past May, along with her former I.O.I co-member Jeon Somi and Pink Sweat$.

Apart from the activities mentioned above, no other announcement was made regarding Weki Meki's group activities or the members' solo projects.
