'IM NAYEON' Becomes Most Pre-Ordered K-pop Album by Female Soloist in 2022

TWICE Nayeon's "IM NAYEON" has earned the title of the most pre-ordered K-pop album by a female soloist in 2022! Aside from this, the debut album also achieved historical feats. Learn more about it below.

'IM NAYEON' Is Now the Most Pre-Ordered K-pop Album by Female Soloist in 2022

On June 24, JYP Entertainment announced through reports that Nayeon's first album titled "IM NAYEON" exceeded 500,000 stock pre-orders as of the 23rd-just one day before its official release.

The number of pre-orders is the amount of album stock a company produces ahead of the album's release. The sum is the approximate demand computed using different factors, one of which is how many copies fans pre-ordered.

In the past five months, no female solo albums have surpassed half a million stock pre-orders, making "IM NAYEON" the first and only one to do so this year thus far. Naturally, it has become the most pre-ordered K-pop album by a female soloist of 2022.

In South Korean history, only 11 female solo artists manage to surpass 500,000 in pure album sales. So if the number of pre-orders for "IM NAYEON" will turn into physical copies, TWICE Nayeon will become the 12th female soloist to achieve the feat.

Those 11 female solo artists are Lee Sora, Yangpa, Kim Hyun Jung, Uhm Jung Hwa, Sumi Jo, Wax, BoA, Lee So Young, Hwayobi, and BLACKPINK members Rosé and Lisa.

On top of that, Nayeon would become the third female soloist to ever surpass 500,000 copies with one album on the Gaon Chart, following BLACKPINK Rosé and Lisa. Needless to say, "IM NAYEON" would become the third best-selling album by a female K-pop soloist after "LALISA" and "R."

To celebrate this remarkable milestone, ONCE (TWICE fandom) took to Twitter to congratulate the TWICE member and use the "#NAYEON_HalfMillionSeller" and the phrase "NAYEON HALF MILLION SELLER."

TWICE Nayeon's first album "IM NAYEON"-a play on words combining her birth name "IM NAYEON" and the phrase "I'm Nayeon"-is due out today, June 24, at 1 p.m. KST.

In addition to premiering her album's title song, "POP!" on various music shows (beginning with KBS's "Music Bank" on June 24), Nayeon will also perform the track on MTV's "Fresh Out Live" on June 24 at 5 p.m. ET.

Congratulations to TWICE Nayeon on her first solo achievement!

TWICE Nayeon Activities Ahead of Solo Debut

Nayeon was on tour with her fellow TWICE members from February to April. Throughout February, the girl group was in the United States holding concerts in five different countries, such as Inglewood, Oakland, Fort Worth, Atlanta, and Elmont. The U.S. leg of their "III" world tour concluded on Feb. 27 at the UBS Arena in Elmont.

Following that, TWICE held their encore concert at the Banc of California Stadium in Los Angeles, making them the first female K-pop group to headline a stadium concert in the U.S. They originally planned to hold only one concert at the said stadium but an additional performance on May 15 was scheduled due to high demand.

In April, TWICE held their Tokyo Dome concert in Japan. But the tickets quickly sold out, so they added a show on the 25th. With three sold-out dates at the Tokyo Dome, they are the first K-pop girl group and the second female group (following AKB48) to hold a three-day concert at the venue.
