'Show!terview' to Return With New Host-Here's What We Know

On June 24, Sports World released an exclusive report stating that a new host for SBS's web-varitety show "Show!terview" has been chosen, as per a broadcast official.

And, it will be none other than the "Gashina" singer, Sunmi!

Sunmi is said to have filmed the first episode of "Show!terview" on the 23rd for the program's resumption next month, particularly at the end of July. With Sunmi as the new host, the program will now be called "Sunmi's Show!terview" or "Show!terview with Sunmi."

"Show!terview" is an interview-type program in which the hottest artists in the entertainment industry appear as guests. It began in June 2020 with female soloist Jessi as the host. At the time, the program was called "Show!terview with Jessi."

"Show!terview with Jessi," which concluded on April 29 this year, had a total of 95 episodes and featured 155 guests, starting with Kim Young Chul and ending with PSY.

In the final episode of the talk show, Jessi said, "I wanted to make all guests feel comfortable here. I wanted to make it really convenient and different instead of a rigid talk show, and I feel proud of myself for managing to do it and thankful for all the good responses."

What led to the success of "Show!terview with Jessi" is arguably because of Jessi's way with guests that made every episode fun and exciting to watch. The web-variety show also drew attention from overseas viewers thanks to its "global interview" segment where Jessi spoke to guests in English.

Meanwhile, Sunmi previously took on the challenge as the sole MC for the SBS variety show "Sunmi's Video Store," which only had two episodes and aired from September 28 to October 1, 2020.

Before the first broadcast of the new season of "Show!terview," Sunmi will first make a comeback on June 29 with her new single album "37℃," which features the title track "Heart Burn." "37℃" comes after her third mini-album, "One Sixth," which came out in August of last year.

Sunmi's Latest Comeback With 'One Sixth'

As mentioned, Sunmi released her third EP "One Sixth" in August of last year. "One Sixth" consists of six songs, includin the title track "You Can't Sit With Us."

Written by Sunmi, "You Can't Sit With Us" is a song with a fast and addictive chorus that expresses disappointment and anger toward a lover.

On the day of its release, "One Sixth" entered the top 10 on the iTunes Album Chart in the United States, marking Sunmi's first top 10 entry in the country. The EP also entered the top 10 in other countries such as Israel, Thailand, Turkey, Hong Kong, Mexico, Singapore, Vietnam, Brazil, Indonesia, and more.

Sunmi's "One Sixth" debuted at No. 4 on the Worldwide iTunes Album Chart, while the title track "You Can't Sit With Us" entered at No. 37 on the Worldwide iTunes Song Chart.

In South Korea, "You Can't Sit With Us" debuted on the real-time charts of Bugs and Genie at 7 p.m. KST on August 6. It landed at No. 1 on Bugs, No. 17 on MelOn (old system), and No. 22 on Genie. On August 7 at 9 a.m. KST, the song debuted at No. 96 on MelOn (new system).

Meanwhile, the music video for Sunmi's "You Can't Sit With Us" racked up 9.9 million views in the first 24 hours of its release. It became the soloist's fastest MV to hit 40 million views, doing so in only seven days.
