Nayeon Reveals Reason for Dropping Solo Album First Among TWICE Members

Ahead of the official release of Nayeon's solo album "IM NAYEON," the idol revealed why she's the first to make her solo debut among the TWICE members. She also shared her favorite song in the EP and how her co-members supported her. Keep on reading for all the details.

On June 24, a press conference was held to commemorate the release of TWICE Nayeon's solo album "IM NAYEON" at the Fairmont Ambassador in Yeouido-dong, Yeongduengpo-gu, Seoul. Announcer Park Seon Young hosted the event.

Nayeon shared, "I have a lot of emotions right now. I feel refreshed after preparing a solo album after a long time, and I feel nervous and excited now that I'm out alone for the first time."

Nayeon's solo debut comes after seven years since her debut as a TWICE member back in 2015. Although it took a long time for her to release solo music, she believes that she's just right on time.

She commented, "This year marks TWICE's seventh anniversary. In my opinion, [my solo debut] is not too late, and it's good timing. After working in a group for seven years, I can now show a new and fresh side of myself through individual activities. It feels good to be here."

As for the reason why she's the first TWICE member to release a solo album, Nayeon answered, "I think it's because I'm the eldest, so I'm the first to try various things."

She continued by sharing her preparation for her solo debut, "It was a challenge for me, but it was also an opportunity to learn a lot. While working on group albums for a long time, I felt that I had limitations, but this time, I was working on a solo album, and I had the chance to break that."

Regarding the concept of her album, the TWICE member said, "I tried to show a new side of me while trying a concept that best fits me."

Nayeon's solo album "IM NAYEON" -a play on words referring to her full name "Im Nayeon" and the phrase "I'm Nayeon"-consists of a total of seven songs, including the title track "POP!"

Among the songs in the album, her favorite one is "NO PROBLEM," which features her labelmate Stray Kids Felix. She explained, "Personally, I like the voice of my friend Felix, so it was a great opportunity to sing together."

Nayeon Shares How Fellow TWICE Members Showed Their Support

During the press conference, Nayeon also talked about her fellow TWICE members who were very supportive throughout the preparation of her solo album until her solo debut day.

She said, "The members supported me from the period of my preparation to today. They monitored me thoroughly." She added that she received countless cheers from her co-members, starting from the first recording.

"All the members came to the jacket and music video set. They also advised me on the parts I had a hard time with. They even suddenly sent a coffee truck at the music video site," she shared.

The "POP!" singer went on to say, "When I choose something, and when I shoot alone, I miss the members the most. It was difficult to do something alone compared to when I was with my members having fun and talking while preparing."

Nayeon then mentioned her co-member Momo, who she described as a "lighthearted supporter." She said, "Momo is the type of person who shows her support through actions rather than words. In fact, she bought me delicious food."
