TWICE Earns RIAJ Platinum Certification in Shortest Time + BTS, BLACKPINK Get Gold

One of TWICE's songs made history as the fastest track by a female foreign artist to receive an RIAJ platinum certification. Additionally, BTS and BLACKPINK achieved another gold. Continue reading to know which of their tunes got certified in Japan.

TWICE Earns RIAJ Platinum Certification in Shortest Time + BTS, BLACKPINK Attain Gold

On June 27, the Recording Industry Association of Japan (RIAJ) announced the new batch of certifications (dated May 2022), and three K-pop artists got certified in the streaming category.

In particular, TWICE's "The Feels" got an RIAJ platinum certification after reaching 100 million streams since its release on Oct. 1 of last year. It took the English track only 268 days to achieve the feat, making it the group's fastest song-and the fastest track by any female foreign act in history- to be certified platinum for streaming in Japan.

Moreover, TWICE has now become the girl group with the most RIAJ platinum certifications for streaming: "The Feels" is now their fourth track to earn platinum following "I CAN'T STOP ME," "Feel Special," and "FANCY."

TWICE has a total of 24 RIAJ certifications for streaming to date: four platinum, eight gold, and 12 silver-maintaining their lead among female artists in the K-pop and J-pop scenes and still coming second to BTS overall.

Meanwhile, both BTS's 2017 Japanese track "Crystal Show" and BLACKPINK's 2016 debut song "BOOMBAYAH" were certified gold in Japan after surpassing 50 million streams each. "Crystal Show" becomes BTS's 14th song to go gold, while "BOOMBAYAH" is BLACKPINK's seventh track to do so.

With this latest achievement, BTS extends its record as the foreign artist with the most RIAJ certifications for streaming, while BLACKPINK remains on the No. 3 spot.

TWICE's Feats With 'The Feels' in 2022

"The Feels" is TWICE's first official English single. It has an addictive melody with disco synth beats and a groovy bass sound, and expresses the heart-fluttering emotions of falling in love at first sight.

On Jan. 25 at approximately 8:20 p.m. KST, TWICE's "The Feels" music video hit 200 million views on YouTube, making it the group's 16th MV to do so. It took the video over three months and 24 days to achieve the milestone since its release on Oct. 1 at 1 p.m. KST.

With "The Feels" becoming their 16th MV to garner 200 million views, TWICE is now the first girl group in YouTube history to accumulate 200 million views with 16 different MVs.

On March 31, "The Feels" MV reached 244,507,643 views, surpassing Stray Kids' "Back Door" MV as the 20th most-viewed music video of JYP Entertainment artists on YouTube. "Back Door" only has 244,452,758 views at that time.

On June 13, "The Feels" choreography video (moving version) surpassed 80 million views on YouTube, becoming TWICE's fastest dance video to reach the mark, doing so in only 252 days. The previous shortest period was 282 days achieved by "CRY FOR ME."

As of June 20, TWICE's "The Feels" MV is the No. 1 most-viewed girl group music video released in 2021 and the sixth most-viewed 2021 K-pop music video overall. It currently has 284 million views with 5.5 million likes.
