Amid discussions about whether TWICE's contract renewal with JYP Entertainment will be successful, the agency released its initial statement. Will all members stay together? Or will some members leave the company?
JYP Entertainment Releases Statement on TWICE's Contract Renewal
TWICE, a girl group launched by JYP Entertainment in 2015, has finally come to the contract renewal season this year. Following the unfortunate disbandment of girl groups that debuted in the same year, such as CLC and April, fans are paying attention to whether TWICE will also part ways or remain as a group.
With the increasing concerns about this matter, JYP Entertainment released its initial statement, saying:
"Currently, TWICE is discussing with the company about the contract renewal. We will announce it later (once done) through the company."
This notice specifically came from the agency before the start of a press conference to commemorate the release of Nayeon's first solo album.
According to this, TWICE is currently talking with JYP. However, as this fall is the time to sign a substantial renewal contract, it is reported that no specific contract has been decided yet.

TWICE has released numerous hits, such as "TT," "Cheer Up," "Signal," "Likey," "Fancy," "Alcohol-Free," and more. With their records, they rose as a representative of third-generation K-pop girl group, and even earned the nickname "3rd-Gen Nation's Girl Group."
The group is known for its consistent activities focused on the group. Thus, when Nayeon made her first solo debut among members, it stirred fans' curiosity about the meaning of this move.
"Will TWICE members go solo and disband?"
According to the Korean media outlet Hankook Ilbo:
"Nayeon's solo debut is significant in that it can be the starting point for TWICE members to expand their musical spectrum in their eighth year.
Seven years have passed since their debut, so it is time for TWICE to have another musical transformation and growth. In this situation, the members' solo debut would have been the most reasonable option for them."
The outlet emphasized that this may not mean disbandment; rather, an opportunity for the members to showcase their respective capabilities and identities outside TWICE.
It seems like Nayeon also hinted at the positive outlook of the nine-member group about renewing the contract as the soloist stressed that they will show a "new look TWICE."
This directly refers to the meaning of the members' solo activities, which will begin in earnest, starting with Nayeon.
"We've been doing group activities, so it was good to be able to show a new and exciting side of us while doing solo activities.
Through this album, we're able to come out like this. Each member has these sides. I want to say that I'm looking forward to the other members, too. We will work with meaning in that we will show a new side of TWICE."
Lastly, the agency's founder J.Y. Park hinted at the meaning of TWICE's solo, discarding disbandment rumors by saying:
"Now, what I will achieve while working on their solo in earnest is not only personal, but it will also have a good influence on TWICE."
